OK, i have been researching and now i am debating on which to get first, tension rods or tie rods.. i will be getting new tires cause the inner part is all worn out and the outside part is still very very good. i want the toe rods so my tire wear can be corrected, but i really need tension rods because the boots are all torn.. which would you zilvians get first? my car is slightly dropped with sportline springs and koni shocks. thanks- kouvang

As long as the inner/outer tie rod ends on your car are still good (no play in the steering) then I would get the tension rods. If the inner or outer tie rod ends are loose then I would get those first. You probably need all of them though so I would suggest that you throw some llantas usadas on there for a while and save up and do it all.

I recommend holding onto the money you have now wait till your next paycheck and then purchase both tension rods and inner tie rods/outer ends. While your at it might as well purchase new inner tie rod boots since they're probably torn (guessing this what you were talking about).

You know how the stock tension rod bushings are fluid-filled, he's probably mistaking that for "boots".

i guess for the tension rods, its the big rubber piece that is at the opposite end of the lca.. i dont know whats its called but its all ripped? Just to make sure, it is possible to adjust toe setting with stock tie rods and ends correct or will i need aftermarket tie rods and ends?

You're serious....?
Yes you can adjust toe settings on OEM tie rods....since the beginning of the automobile.
And yes the tension rods are the leaking part you're describing, and they're not boots, they're simply called "liquid-filled bushings". As for tension rods, the easy replacement are some aluminum adjustables, but just remember that you will then have the ability to adjust your caster with those. And from the sound of it, you don't have much experience with cars. So I would suggest getting either some NISMO rubber or ES poly bushings and replace the OEM worn bushing in your stock tension rod.
As far as the tie rods, definitely get them replaced BEFORE you put new tires on. Seeing as how you will need a new alignment with the new tie rods, get that done first THEN put on new tires. trust me you don't want to have feathering on new tires from a bad alignment, cause once it's done.....it's done.

tension rods first. for sure. the fluid filled bushings wear out quickly (i once put a new set in a customers car and they wore out in 5 months. his car was dd, never tracked or abused)

Aftermarket tension rods will stiffen up your front end (if your stock bushings are shot).
Adjusting your stock tie rods (or replacing them with aftermarket tie rods) will save your tires.
My recommendation would be to replace the bushings in your stock tension rods (with aftermarket bushings), and adjust your stock tie rods. This will be the most cost effective route to solving both of your issues.
