Ok, so i'm in the process of having someone rebuild my motor, and slap on a built head. This guy that I know refered me to this "hobby shop", where they do these types of things, just to have a shop to work out of. Basically, they aren't really a business, they just do it for rent, parts, etc. They told me to trade my motor in, and in return, I would get a rebuilt block, and a built head. The head would have solid lifters, ported and polished, 3 angle valve job, 1mm overbored, titanium valves, retainers, springs, etc. I would have to purchase my HG, headstuds, turbo, injectors, fmu. The block would be stock, but rebuilt. Cost? My motor + $4,000. When I thought about it, sr's are going for about $2500, add that to the $4000, and that would come up to 6500. Can't I get a built motor for about that much? This does include taking out my motor, and installing the new one. I know that I live in Hawaii, and that things are just naturally more expensive, but that does seem like a lot of money, for what i'm getting.

Yes, that sounds like a lot of money to me. I'd suggest you find a healthy KA for a few hundred bucks and re-build the one you have yourself. You'll learn a few things and save $$ in the long end. if you want power right away then go with the SR.

Are you not Mechanically inclined?

Just build your motor yourself.

Have someone do the machine work for you, (1,000) and you can build a NICE KA complete with turbo and all for what your going to give them for just the motor!

Just do some re-search.

I knew I forgot to add something. The motor they want me to trade, is my redtop. I'm gonna talk to my friend's dad, who does machine work, and take it from there.

yeah from the list of mods you've given... most of it you can do yourself. things like the valve job, and the port/polish you can send to any good machine shop/engine builder and they can do that for you. other then that, if you don't know how to do something in particular, just research it. At the end of it all, you'll know a lot more than if you payed someone else to build it, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you built your own car.

good luck mang :)
