Exactly, the people up top always let it get to their heads and they take advantage of it for their own gain. If there was some kind of a checks & balances system and if people were allowed to leave as they please I think it could work well.
When people hear communism they automatically picture a tyrannical dictator or some fanatical die for the motherland ideology, which isn't necessarily true.
My parents grew up during communism. Yes they say that not being allowed to visit non-communist countries was ridiculous, especially since the communist leaders themselves were traveling all over the world which is complete hypocrisy.
Most people who ran away during communism did so because they assumed that the life outside was much better since their government kept them isolated. But once people were out many found out that life outside isn't as sweet as most dreamt it up to be, many people would've loved to return but once they were out they couldn't return because the government would've labeled them as traitors and most likely put them in prison which is retarded.
Anyway, my parents waited it out, they got free houses out of it, free education at excellent universities, and many very happy memories because when people don't have to stress about things like mortgages and medical bills they spend their money on hobbies, it wasn't all that terrible.

Dude your so misguided on your analysis of so called Communist countries. First off there is no true communist country in the world and their never has been.

If you read the communist manifesto by Carl Marx you would realize that its a Utopian ideal thats completely unachievable at this point in time. Man would have to learn to become completely pacifist to make it work. Thats not happening anytime soon.

Second off according to Carl Marx's theory as to a how a country would achieve real Communism the United States would possibly be the most likely candidate for that. I will quote that he stated "in order for a country to become Communist it must go through a Capitalistic stage.

Now so far none of the so called Communist countries in the world that have gone Communist never went through a Capitalistic stage.

Russia has never known a truly democratic capitalistic state. It was always a totalitarian regime. Under the Czars a small handful controlled and oppressed the masses. Under the Soviet Union it was the same deal. Both Stalin and the Czars killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Lets look at China ,hhhhhm a country that was run by a Emperor, pretty much again a small handful of people that controlled the poor masses and exploited them. In the brief time that China tried to become democratic the so called Communists with Mao seized power. China never really knew a democratic lifestyle. Mao killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people as well. He wiped out a good part of the countries history during the so called cultural revolution. People are exploited in China today.

Yep, thats the concensous down in Miami right now. And believe it or not, a great majority of Cuba likes Castro. Since he does have a sort of percieved charisma (believe it or not) that they like...his brother, not so much.

There was an article in a newspaper I was reading saying how they thought "its pretty stupid how some people wear a shirt with Che's face on it, that he's probably rolling in his grave knowing you bought a shirt supporting captilalism." haha.
