I pulled all my plugs tonight, and found the plug hole closest to the firewall was full of oil. about 1" worth. Anyone know what might have caused this? I'm gonna pull the valve cover tomorrow and check it out, but this seems wierd!

That part of the valve cover gasket may have just failed.

From what I have heard is that there are 2 gaskets that need to be replaced when you remove the valve cover. One is the valve cover gasket, and the other is a gasket that surrounds the spark plug holes. You may need to replace that one... which means you'll have to buy both gaskets.

It's a two piece gasket, so both pieces should be sold together...at least mine was.

And you might want to get a syringe or something and suck all that oil out before you take out the spark plug and let the oil into the combustion chamber.

as long as the oil gets in the cylinder through the spark plug entry and you don't have leaking valve seals then there really is nothing to worry about. the oil will just get burnt off, and cleaned out by the combustion. Just get a lint free shop cloth and twist it up and soak up as much as you can before putting it all back together.

Thanks for the help guys. I sucked most of the oil out of the hole, but I didn't think a little in the cylinder would hurt anything. Looks like i'll pick up some gaskets at the dealer soon and start on project 240!

Dunno. Rampid360 told me that he only recieved one gasket... and was upset when he saw there was 2 of them.
I guess that if you're gonna pick up gaskets, double check on what is comming with them. I think Rampid only asked for the valve cover gasket.

I pulled the cover, and lo and behold ,the inner gasket was broken around the one plug tunnel. I ordered the gaskets from my dealer (it does come with 2 pieces), and I should be getting them tomorrow. Again, thanks for the help guys.
