Does anyone know if Bars or any other product will actually work for blown head gaskets? I don't have the funds at the moment (no job), it's my DD and I have a fucking job interview at the end of the month...
+rep for help.

alot of old school guys swear by the bars leaks stuff.... personally, i'd just go ahead and replace the head gasket, it's like 30$ for a felpro.

+ resurface head and time. I only need the motor to run me to and from work which will hopefully be about 8-10 miles away if I get it then I'm going to replace the motor anyway.

That stuff might work, but it's only a temporary fix which might do more harm than good to your engine in the long run.

I will only use it for about 2-3 weeks at most.

From what I've seen, most of those stop leak products will just end up plugging up your heater core. Up to you if you want to risk it.

reminds me of the saying "if you dont have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over."
i would have the headgasket replaced. i doubt bars would solve your blown headgasket troubles. it may hold just long enough to get you half way to your job interview... then fail.
see if mom and dad will loan a few bucks until you get the job. but then again i dont know your parents.
if your going to use it just use very less like a coolent stop leak.
but its not good for our motors it make things worst.

just buy a head gasket. cut some lawns or something for a little bit of change and buy one. and instead of sitting around waiting for your interview go out and replace it. just do some research on how to do it. save you alot of money in the long run and u get the experince. cant go wrong there.

Buy a Felpro headgasket and wrench it down.

there are also other fairly inexpensive modes of transportation such as bicycles and buses that can bring you where you need to get while to save up money to do it the right way...thats just what i do when i cant drive though...

cheaping now is always more expensive later.
Remember that
on that note, if your not worried about your motor. use that shit and write a reveiw

Well I tore down the head and inspected everything, apparently I have some rough cam journals, no pits just very small grooves. I'm not certain how this would hold up. Input is greatly welcomed. :/

Do you have an SR or KA? I can donate an SR one if you really need it.

YAh sure cheap out on it and use the BAR stuff. What will happen is, on your first day to work, itll break down again, you will have to pay $150 to get it towed back home, get fired from work for being a no show on your first day.
Its a 240, itll go down exactly how i predicted it to the T.

Bars leak worked as a band aid for me. I only head a little leak in my head gasket, it held up pretty well until I could afford to do it right. My heater still works too.

Are they rough or smooth? How deep?

I'm past the Bars leak, why don't you try reading the entire thread.
S14DB, you can barely even tell the grooves exist by touch, it's more visible but it's a little rough and not even a hair deep.

Scrape your pan and check your pickup for shavings. Shouldn't be a long term problem. Keep up with oil changes and filter changes.
