ok heres my problem...upper radiator hose inspection
-looks normal
-feels normal no signs of it internally breaking cause i felt it
-outside inspection looks fine to no cracks or weak spots
problem:
ill drive it on a cold day i live in cali and last friday it was cold as f*ck 49 degrees but not compared to other states were the whole car is in ice but very cold
ill park my car in the shade and when i pop my hood up my upper radiator hose looks all retarded
ex: fill a water bottle up with hot water and pour out close it shut and then run cold water over the bottle notice the bottle crunching in cause of the cold water...well thats what my upper radiator hose looks like
you can compare the two situations but there exactly alike
hot water in bottle is like hot radiator fluid in hose
cold water over battle is like cold weather to the hose
is this normal my best advice would come from those of you who live in arears where the night temps are extremely cold??? hit me up with advice would i need to get a new upper radiator hose?? BTW bottom one is perfectly normal plums up when hot but dosent look all retarded when cold

i dont think 49 degrees is really cold enough to really do that...
you may just need a new upper hose...maybe?
have any pics of what the hose looks like when this phenomenon is happening?

ya...ill take a pic of this...not to offend anyone but i did specifically say but not compared to other states were the whole car (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?p=1840155#) is in ice but very cold
i just find it wierd that my upper radiator hose is doing this
Very cold at 49F? LMAO.
Today it was awesome 37F Going to be 19F on Tue.
Anyway, take some pics of what your hose is doing.
Maybe an issue with bad thermostat?

just replace the hose. its less than $20 at autozone and takes 5 minutes to do.

I live in Buffalo....Cold. A cooling system is sealed, and there is some air inside the system. When the air is hot the upper hoses will look plump, when cold they will look like a capri sun when you suck the air out of them. Problem sounds like too much air in you system, so add some fluid. The next time it happens, take off your radiator cap and see if it sucks in air and the hose goes back to normal. Then check your fluid level.
Fill up your coolant - you have air in the system. It is expanding with heat.

update on current situation..i was about to take pics but i tried out "viggs" advice and when the hose was all shrunk i opened the radiator cap and the hose sucked in are and returned to normal size..i turned my car on trying to bleeds the system and i notcied once the car was running there were slight bubbles escaping the radiator neck i ran the car until i saw no more bubbles and quickly recapped the radiator befor it overflowed ill see if that fixed my problem

You need to bleed the system from the upper waterneck.

problem solved i noticed that twisting the radiator cap would plum up the hose i later found out that twisting the cap off the overflow tank did the same i inspected the tank found out that the hole near the top was clogged..i got it from junkyard..now is fine wow something so small got me all worried..guess the hole was to vent out hot air but since it was sealed it kept it in
