I need some new tires before the snow hits and I was wondering what you guys use for an all season tire.  I want to get something that will work well next summer too.

I'll say this:  you will NEVER get an all-around tire that will perform even close to as well as a dedicated tire will.  You really should buy summer tires and winter tires...an extra set of wheels is cheap, and the tires last a long time if you're only using them half the time.

But if you must, I would recommend the Michelin XGT V4.  I put a set on my mom's Accord, and let me tell you...what a difference.  It's no sports car, but the tires are very very nice.  No squeal around corners, quiet, smooth, grippy, and we got them "siped" so they work well in the snow too.

Nice choice.  But not the cheapest.

I'lll add my bit for snow tires as well.  Running those and a set of all season tires in the same winter made me realize there is no comparison at all.  The snow tires are hands down better in the snow than any all season tire can dream of being.  At $50-80 per tire they aren't that cheap, but not really all that expensive either.  Having driven my parents mazda 626 with all season tires and their accord with "old school" snow tires, my 240 with a set of arctic alpins was by far easier to drive in snow.  Then in the summer throw on some true sporty tires and again be better in rain and dry than the all season tire could ever be.

I can't recomend a good all season tire, but I can give you a bad one.  The dunlop D60 A2.  Stiff tire with a poor ride and zero snow ability.

Funny how your all from chicago, everyone hates that chicago weather <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':angry:'> . Tires are gonna be expensive for me (atleast when I get my car), imma need snow tires, summer tires and some autocross tires.

Does LSD help any in the winter time?

I have BFG G-Force T/A's (KDWS). &nbsp;Haven't tried them in snow, but they work very well for rain and autocrossing (though not as sticky as Hoosiers). Their not cheap, but reasonable. &nbsp;Also have really good tread life.

LSD would be great in the winter, though it's not a requirement for getting around. &nbsp;Biggest pain with the open diff is having to be conservative since once one wheel spins, all the power goes that way and to regain traction you have to breathe off and let it hook up again. &nbsp;With an LSD the torque gets redirected (or split full time) so off the line is much easier. &nbsp;

But don't forget you have to stop and corner as well. &nbsp;Added acceleration is a false sence of security, though sometimes important, like for merging (or dropping the jaw of some SUV owner you keep up with).

Bridgestone Potenza RE-950's are good all season tires. They are good in dry and wet conditions but are only ok in snow/ice conditions. So if you live in an area will little snow it'll work.

Gonna get my J30 VLSD on my ride soon. &nbsp;Been sitting in the garage collecting dust for months now. =) &nbsp;

Trust me, VLSD DOES. . make a huge difference in the snow. &nbsp;I had my 92 S13 with VLSD, and it made a difference.. &nbsp;With my S14, I've been through 2 winters (bought it during a winter), and it's a real bitch. &nbsp;I live at the top of a hill. &nbsp;Once I get down from here, I have more hills to go up. &nbsp;Then when I come home, hills again. &nbsp;My S14'd get stuck in the middle of a flat street!!! &nbsp;I had to ditch it one night =) &nbsp;

Also, I heard someone say somethin bout Arctic Alpins. &nbsp;I bought a set like two years ago haha.. that I haven't even touched, cause I had a fucked up lug, but I fixed that now.. soooo . . pretty much brand new, mounted on 95 Maxima SE rims (15 inch, very CLOSE clearance, but they work I think).. So uhh. . what can I expect from these? &nbsp;Never used 'em b4 =)
