I've been contemplating this for a while now. Primer black for about half a year till I do an s15 front and get a new paintjob. That way when I do decide to get it painted it'll already be primed!

What do you guys think? Anyone have any pics?

Thanks

Well, for about half of the summer my car was "flat" black because my dad and I were in the process or refinishing it. It was wetsanded and looked like flat black. I got rid of the pictures two days ago, so sorry I can't help you out there. The car didn't look horrible, but I definately wouldn't want it like that for more than a couple months. I'll try to dig up those pictures if not today, then tomorrow.

I don't think it would look to bad. I saw a pic of it on a S-13 and it didn't look so bad. I'm just wondering how your car will look with flat black paint and steelies.

What color do you plan to paint your car? if you find any good shop(s) at there let me know, so far the best I've found is $800 for a full paint job.

Nope no steelies, I'm sportin the 300z wheels + brakes now

800 buckazoids?? Is that with prepwork? Did they tell you how long they were gonna prep the car? And they are buying the paint also? Is this for a color change? Where?

800 bucks is a damn good price if they spend more than 15min prepping it.

Right now I'm thinking white. It all depends on my mood when I get the money.

Hmmm. I'm really considering flatblack. With 300z wheels plus front bumber with molded lip showing a Huge fmic. I think it would look very aggresive.
Plus it gives me the oppertunity to bondo all my dents and paint over all the scrathes on the car. Saves money in the long run.

If you want to guarantee a good prep job you can always do it yourself. Use some 400-600 grit sandpaper to get the old job off and fill in the dings, scratches, etc. with some bondo. And after you strip the old paint, and fix the body damage, finish the job off with some 1000 grit paper to smooth it out. If you do that, there really is no need to primer because the paint will stick to the smooth, sanded part.

Oh, by the way, what year 240 do you have?

I've got a 95. Only reason why I haven't painted yet is I want to do all my body mods before I paint.
With the flat black I can go ahead and fix all the dings and scratches and just roll around in a flat black car for awhile until I'm ready to paint. I think it's a good idea "in theory" however I would like to see what an s14 looks like in that color.

Jeez I feel like a girl that's about to chop of all her hair.

Just keep in mind that the whole idea of priming is to give a nice, clean, dirt-free surface for painting. You should not really let the car leave the paint booth after priming (even though people do all the time). I'm just saying that driving around for a year with primer is going to negate the priming...you'll have to prime it again.

I do like the look though

Yeah, Sun kills primer to... so youwould have to re primer the car anyways. i say you might as well wait till you do the body work cuz you never know if you will get any nasty door dings between now and then. And it would be pointless to prep the body twice.

I say wait.

Do you remember the guys at Rockville with the dark blue '89 S13 with the redtop?

They both work at a shop and the owner, Nom (i think that is his name) told me that he did the repaint on his car himself (took 3 layers). Anyways I asked him how much to repaint my car...he said $800, but it will take sometime for a repaint and what type of color you want (roughly 2 days - 1 week). Also if you want a custom paint or hard to match color (excluding your Emerald Green), then it will be extra money. I had his number some where, I'll try to look for it....if not I can give you Keke's number to get in touch with the other guy. He works at the shop also, but is more into swapping engines.

Go for black or even better Sliver.

Oh yea, think you can help me out with my car? (part searchin' and installs)

Hahaha...after ya laughed at me when I told ya I was planning that for Drift Chicken. So when's the priming party gonna be ? Matt's (Alicia's bro) FC is primed from the fenders forward, he's supposed to finish it up this week. Looks kinda cool actually...

Hmm still haven't made a decision.

Fixxer: You know your jealous, you want a flat black car too

GtspecR: Yeah, first figure out what your plan is. I can source 97-98 parts easy. Find out if your gonna need a new Rad support

DriftChicken: HA! your picture looks just like you!

No one has a picture of a flat black s14??
