Basically 3 weeks ago i washed my engine and got water in the 4th cyliner spark plug !! darn!! so the next day i dried it etc. but then i started noticing vapor shooting up from around the shifter in the car!! (i dont have a boot n e more)
so i unscrewed the plate and removed the rubber and i noticed there was oil spilt around there. so i wiped it off. then the vapors stopped. now 3 weeks later it is doing a bit again every now and then.
could it be:

1. an oil leak ( i think my car has a MINOR SUPER SLOW leak under the engine. i know, i know i should get it checked)

or

2. air conditioner leak?? cuz i usually have the air con on when it happens.

thanks!!

Just 3 days ago I was on my way to work and I noticed a vapor coming from my shift boot! It happend on and off, it's not a heavy smoke but an occational puff of white smoke. I didn't spill water in my spark plug and I wasn't driving my car hard either, Is it an oil leak? If so how do I stop it?

go to www.240sx.org and check the FAQ's for a "Smoking shift boot" it explains it there. I don't know if that is your problem or not, but it's a place to start.

I can't get a direct link but check it out.
