I'm about to do a tranny swap on my 91 240, and i'm not 100% sure if
i need new neutral, overdrive and reverse sensors for the MT.
Can i use the ones i have on, or do i need MT sensors?
Same thing goes for the speedometer.
Thanks.

Speed sensor...NO.

I *think* the others interchange, can't recall. They are just simple plunger-type sensors...so long as the thread/pitch is the same...

Yups speedo sensor has to be manual and chassis specific...

You must not have ever seen either transmission in person.

The automatic has a single gear selector switch for all positions, there is no neutral, reverse, or other switches separate on the unit. You also don't need any of them anyway.

Do yourself a favor and research a topic before asking questions, you'll find that it's been covered to death for the last 20 years.

Hopefully if you pick up the trans it'll have them in it, Nissan was retarded and put 4 sensors in our cars, my tranny guy laughed when he saw all the wires. You really only need the neutral and reverse sensor in because the 4th and 5th gear sensors just slow you down at a certain rpm :)

And only S13 DOHCs have the 4th gear switch. SOHC models and S14s don't have a provision for it.

4th and 5th gear switches are for cruise control as I understand. All you need to do is wire your reverse switch to the proper wires on your A/T harness so that the reverse lights work. You really don't NEED a neutral safety switch, but that can be wired up through the A/T harness as well if you cannot find a m/t lower harness.

Actually, no i haven't seen the AT. I just got the car and it's the first Nissan i've gotten.
But thanks for the help.
The MT came with the sensors, but they're bad.
THAT'S why i asked if they interchanged.

I don't know if that's true because I have neither wired in and my cruise control is fine. I think they're just part of the speed limiter because it's only effective in 4th and 5th when those sensors are hooked up, otherwise the car doesn't know

the auto speed sensor and manual speed sensor on a s13 have the same harness, and look identical, i never pulled one out because i didnt need any at the time but the speed sensor itself might interchange. it should just have plastic gear on the end, if you need one i d check it before you toss it. im going off my visual inspection from the auto trans that came out of my parts car and my friends car.

^ they are not interchangeable.
