How much am I looking at to buy new hatchback shocks? My hatch doesn't open on its own when I pull the latch - you have to have someone go around back and pick it up by the metal.

I assume this is something I can put on myself?

tare you alking about when you pull the latch, it just pops it opem, you have to life it yourself, but it should lift itself up after that, if this post made any sense.

so ill try again, when you hit the latch, it isnt supposed to open all the way, it jsut pops it a little bit, for you to pull up. or at least mine does too...

It doesn't lift at all. I pull the latch and someone has to GRR muscle it up. Then when it's up it won't hold itself for more than a few seconds.

yea mine does that too. its a damn 2 man job everytime i have to open my trunk... i thought it was the lifter or a poper in the trunk that makes iot pop up like the hood...

if mine doesnt pop up that mean i need new shocks?...

Mine does the same... i have to usually wedge something in the pull handle latch (near the drivers seat), to keep it raised.  Sometimes this is my CD case, or my cell phone.. then i run to the back of the car and open up the hatch.

Good thing I have a huge sub box in the trunk and I don't have to open it much to fit anything in there... but hey.. it is still annoying.

I have thought about what might be causing this problem. I have noticed if I put a towel (or some thick cloth) between the hatch and the car (just to give it a bit more pressure on the latch) then when I pull the handle it will pop up. It gives it more upwards pressure because it is pulling on the latch. You know what I mean?

My shocks are still fine on the hatch, they don't give when the door is lifted up.. but they just don't provide the "umpphhh" that the hatch needs to open. Maybe it isn't the hatch, maybe it is the latch not opening all the way... maybe the cord just needs to be tightened a bit.

Let me know how you fix it. I will do the same,
