I have a 96' with 99k. The steering wheel shakes worse when the car is in park, than when I'm sitting at a stoplight. When I get to about 60mph, the steering wheel shakes more than before. Also, I've noticed that my hood shakes.

What is possibly causing this and what can be done?

this can be caused by a lot of things, wheel alignment, tire not balanced, rotors warped, etc. get an alignment at your local dealership, they'll also check for other causes of the wobble. good luck.

Yeah i had the same problem when i was braking, turned out i had to get my rotors resurfaced, this might be the problem but when the car's parked? Now thats just down right odd

I had the same problem too, mostly caused my rotors but alignmnets play a part in your wobbly condition too...you might wanna rotate the rotors around, that's what i did cuz my rotors weren't really that damaged....
oh yea by the way guys...what kinda rotors should i get? i wanna change my factory rotor...not too pricy though, trying to save money for my aero kits

if your steering wheel shakes from 50-70 mph that would be your tires needing to be balanced
if your sitting idle and it shakes i would assume your idle is dropping. check your timing, plugs, cap and rotor.
if yu have brkae pedal pulsation then your rotors are warped

If your car is shaking at idle, then check your plugs. For about a week I had the same problem, then I notice one of my plugs was not completely in and my car was running on three cylinders....not a good thing to find out.

If it happens when you are parked...it could be a motor mount.

a motor mount would cause a clunk when revved. not to likely to cause that bad of a vibration.
but to check the motor mount have someoe brake torque your car and look at your engine to see if it moves excessively

Camp, well i got that problem and I heard the best thing was to replace the T/C rod bushings. Like the one where you answered to my other thread about u popping out the old customers bushings.
So 240sx2Nur, if you got the ooze coming from under the car, replace em.

iiii dont think the t/c rods would affect your steering so mmuch but when turning or braking the t/c rods would cause some problems. on my coupe they were shot and i never had that problem. i know i had a loud ass clunking noise when i had forgotten to tighten a t/c rod completely ever time i hit the brakes.
