So I removed the wiper motor so that I could paint the engine bay. Replaced it when finished... now my wipers turn off in the up position if that makes sense... so I thought I may have just connected the motor to the wipers in the wrong position. I removed the wiper motor and manually moved the wipers to the down position while the switch was off and reconnected the motor. But then when I activated the wipers again and turned them back off they stop in the up position. Any ideas?

LOL. That's a new one. Maybe turn the output on the motor 180* before putting it back on?

i've seen this problem on a different car and it took me a while to figure it out, it was a lil different setup than that on the 240s but try this....disconnect the wiper motor from the arms that are attached to it and turn the arms 180 degrees, or just move them to the opposite side,(meaning..if the wipers were in the up-position, after you move the arms, they should be in the down-positin now) and than connect the wiper motor to the arms again. when you do this, take off the 2 wiper arms, so when you connect your motor and turn it on they dont go swinging all over the place. that should do it but like i said, the car i did this on had a different setup of the wiper assembly so this procedure might/might not work. good luck

I'll give these a try. I did try to turn the motor 180* but I did do it quickly. Thanks for the input... I welcome other ideas...

you unplugged the power, they're reffering to actually disconecting the linkage from the motor.

did you make sure the wires went back to where they were before? and that you didn't mix them up somehow?

agree. and i have another one for you.

i was bored one day and put the rhd controls on my car. now my wiper stops wherever it is when i turn the switch off, which now only has two speeds (off and on).

the only advantage is that i dont drop my cigarettes because im using my right hand to operate the turn signals.

No, I disconnected the linkage from the motor. I know this is a weird one. Thanks for the feedback. When I find the fix I will be sure to post so if you are interested stay tuned (well this weekend)

No... just unplugged the harness. Did not change around any wiring...
