Cleaners Find Mummified Body in Arizona Bathtub

PHOENIX —

A dried and decomposing body was found in a bathtub filled with dirt in a Phoenix apartment that was stacked to the ceiling with garbage and human waste.

Phoenix police Sgt. Joel Tranter said Monday that the apartment owners thought it had been abandoned in August.

But the owners didn't decide to do anything about the filthy apartment until last week, when they paid other people in their complex to clean it out.

The cleaning crew took plywood and a sheet of plastic off the bathtub and started emptying the tub of dirt.

That's when they found a leg of the body.

Police removed the tub with the body still inside and took it to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office

It was probably a murder. Let time go by just in time to get rid of all the evidence and have the body melt away in the water.
