tie rod bolt

I think it's called the cotter pin. How is this removed? I tried to replace my tie rod ends last night, but found that I need a 19mm wrench (that I don't have) and that the bolt has a cotter pin in there that I couldn't get out.

Try straightening out the ends of the cotter pin then pull on the closed end with a pair of side-cuts.  If that doesn't work you can do like i always end up having to do, if you aren't reusing the tie-rod end or castle-nut, cut off the ends of the cotter pin so it is flush with the nut, then crank on the bolt.  Should work, if not you can always try to push it out with a hammer and a punch.

1. Flathead screw driver, and try to bend the cotter pin straight
2. Do the same with Pliers.
3. When you straighten all you could, use the pliers to pull the cotter pin, and wiggle, tiggle, at the same time, use the end of the screwdriver to tab it out from the other end.
Should work.

you straighten/flaten it out as much as you can with pliers &nbsp;or just buy a new one not that expensive.

Simple DSccee
When you buy new Tie rod ends, they have a new cotter pin that is straight, so it's very easy to slip it in, once in, you bend it, to secure the the nut. Make sense ? right right ?

I take it the Tie rod end will simply unscrew from the tie rod... correct? And to install the moog unit, all i need to do is screw it on then go get an alignment?

In order to not severly affect your toe make sure that you keep the lock nut in it's place when unscrewing your old tie rod. Cotter pins are a sinch to get out. I used the needlenose and hammer technique.

Butt lube it (liquid wrench)
Straigten
Grab end with long needlenose
Hammer the crap outa needlenose
Voila!
