OMG!! That was the first auto x I've seen. Is everybody that good? If so I don't even want to show up to try my luck. I think I'd be slaughtered worse than anybody whose ever been slaughtered!

Yeah don't sweat it. When I went to my first autox a few weeks ago I felt the same way when I saw how awesome some of the drivers were. I did pretty well for a novice. And the all of the other drivers are really nice. Like he said, when they started out, they weren't the driver's they are today.

Nice. You know, I'll toast an M3 anyday......

Anyway, I am hoping to do my first autox very soon, I just hope I can make it through the course without getting lost. Everybody is a novice sometime, now it's my turn. I have heard that all the other drivers are very nice and like to help the newbies.

That would be Dado, very nice car, and very good driver.

Those DTM guys have so many vids. go to DTMPower.net, or Racingflix.com for more vids of dado, I think he got a feature on racingflix.

Also if you go to the Video section of thier forum, this guy (his name is sumin like snaggy or sumin, don't remember) he has some nice ass vids that he put together. damn rich guys.

There are some 240sx autox vids floating around, but autocross looks like fun, I'll have a great time making an ass out of myself next year when i go for the first time.

Have any of you gotten lost on the course, I mean there are a lot of cones out there, how the heck do you knwo where to go

my suggestion..
walk the course carefully early before the show begins
if you bring a paper.. you can draw or jot down important points of the track.. better yet.. draw the whole track
and have a great time

Do you need a helmet?
Are there anyother regulations?

Contrary to popular belief Dado's car is not super charged, but naturally aspirated

-Dave-

u need to have a helmet when u drive but don't necessarily have to own one urself. most places will have loaners available as long as u leave ur license as collateral.

if u r looking into getting ur own helmet, look for something that is for auto-racing and is recent, like an SA2000 ("SA" - Special Application, "2000" - year 2000). some may allow motorcycle helmets (classified by a "M") and some may allow a year rating as far back 1990. but it is better to get one that is 2000 so that u can still use it for another 10 yrs.

other regulations that ur local Solo2 may have is
-secured battery
-no lose items in the car
-no hubcaps
-functioning throttle cable
that's all that i seem to remember, but there's more than what i've listed.

lastly, when u first start autoX'ing, pls don't lie to ppl at tech about ur mods. that would be cheating.

Yeah, don't worry about getting lost out there..I only walked the course once and looked at the map a few seconds before my first run. There was only one guy the whole day who got lost..some poor sap in a t-bird. And if you do get lost, don't worry about it, laugh it off and try again.
