7.5k for a legit , legal shell correct? Legal as in being able to get registered? Thanks

its not a motorex car therefore it will never be 100% legal to drive. there is a way to register it and drive it but it wont be a 50 state legal car.

motorex went out of business and those people are in jail son

true but do your research before speaking chief. Motorex was the ONLY company that had DOT bond released, and hence 50 state legal skylines. Motorex is closed now but the cars that they imported are still legit.

they are still ways around it..... i have a r32 and its registered .... you just got to know people....and yes motorex is done but one of the main heads owns rbmotoring now...

i understand that there are ways to register it but those ways arent necessarily legal. unless you have a DOT bond release notice then your skyline is not legal. if rbmotoring is selling cars that have been bond released then fine, but anything other than that just means the dmv didnt really care about if the car was legal or not but allowed you to register it.

Besides the exterior front end and windshield, what else are you putting on the car? Motor? Suspension? etc???

gtr shell aint worth much without the motor
its just an r32 shell, which complete skylines go for like 6k registered

suspension is already on the car. it will have everything except a motor, ecu, tranny and engine harness.

i really wonder where people get off saying sh!t like this. if this was true then more people would have gtrs. Id love to see a REGISTERED gtr in the US for 6k.

I think what Soapgun was referring to is that the only thing that really adds value to a GTR versus a regular Skyline is its engine and drivetrain. Without either, it's only really just a plain jane skyline shell(excluding minor differences). I doubt he was making the statement that US registered GTR's could be had for $6K.

Just because the "state" allowed you to register your vehicle, doesnt mean its federally legal. If the federal government finds OUT you are driving a skyline, regardless of wether its "registered" or not, they will jump on your ass.
"Registered" and "legal" are NOT the same thing. If the state that allowed you to register it also finds out that the vehicle is not legal, they can revoke your registration.

Wow
I think it's too much for a trailor queen that needs another $5,000.00 for used motor and another $xxx,xx.xx to make it run dependable. Do you have ANY paperwork for the car such as a deregistration from japan? At least a Mexican can buy it and reg it in TJ and drive it in Cali.

no paperwork from japan unfortunately. and everyone is entitled to their opinion, what may not seem worth it to you, may be worth it to someone else.

Can you elaborate on this? As far as I know you can't import a car that has a vin, or serial number starting with a letter. The vin must start with a 1, 2, or 3. Also the car must be from 1993 to 1998 in order to legaly import it to mexico. You could possibly get border plates, but that's unlikely since the car has to have a us title in order to do that. Or do a vin swap with a 240.
