why hasn't wangan midnight been picked up for western distribution, ever?

seriously, this is starting to bother me. i know i can get like, the first six episodes of the anime fansubbed. but other than that... there's almost 30 eps of the anime and apparently several movies, some of which are 15 years old or so. why is this shit not here? >: (

The series was adapted into a series of direct-to-video movies following in 1994, 1997 and again in 2000. They accurately depict the manga, with the exception of Akio being in his 30's. Many Japanese viewers hold the films in high regard for their realistic portrayal of the racing with the cars having the speed they have in the manga.

I thought Wangan Midnight's story line a little more strange than Initial D. I started watching the anime, but I never really got into WM as much as ID.

The main character acting like a tool about his "devil z" and crashing it into the wall multiple times in the first couple episodes kinda made me lose interest (yes I actually read some of the manga when I got impatient waiting for episodes to release). If anyone wants to put some input about if the episodes and story line got better, please let me know.

On another note, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see Over-Rev made into an anime or at least stronger support for subbed mangas.

I agree with the OP. I have seen the first 2 episodes dubbed. and enjoyed them alot.


And kids here have been trying to imitate it for years, they just dont know it. Most of the idiots on the street here in LA couldn't handle those Wangan speeds, cause they have been dying for years racing at 115-120mph in thier honda's. The unfortunate thing is, they still try.

I think wangan anime is 10 episodes so far. They plan to have 26. Only 6 episodes have been subbed so far for us...It takes so long for people to translate it :(
