I have been searching and I can not seem to understand why people only do the front conversion and not the back... the car is rear wheel drive, more power in back.... do you leave back stock or what?? And y z32 brakes y not brembo....

Most of your stopping power comes from the front.  I had the same question/concerns as you did, until I asked someone.

Most people change there rear rotors to some slotted and/or drill brembo's with stock caliper, but better pads.  

When you say Brembo...do you mean the big brake kit for the 240SX?....if so people opt for Z32 brakes because they are cheaper and they can opt for the brembo rotors also.

remember weight transfer.  when you hit the brakes, all the weight shifts forward onto the front wheels.  this is now your best traction point on the car, so you put the calipers with more power to bite down into the grip that is gotten from braking inherantly.  inertia.

Also the brembos have worse fitting problems duee to size. And I think for some of the autocrossers big brakes are not legal for the lower classes. And it would be pointless to bump up your car to the next class for bigger brakes.

I bleive sumin like 90% of your stopping power id in the front.

Braking has nothing to do with what wheels drive the car.

When you hit the brakes, weight shifts forward putting most of the load on the front tires. Say you've got 80% of the car's weight on the front under full brakeing, 20% on the back. If you have equal brakes front and rear, the rears would lockup...causing not only decreased brakeing performance (~30% less stopping power from the rear wheels in the event of a lockup actually) but it can also cause a spin.

Why z32 instead of brembo?
Often times people will use brembo rotors on their z32 swap but I assume you mean the brembo big brake upgrade.
A few reasons. 1) money 2) they are overkill 3) clearance (brembo require 17" rims, z32 requrie only 16")

PS: &nbsp;I think going to z32 is where you get bumped, brembo big brake upgrade wouldn't bump another class.

Oh and Id like to add that people often dont swap out the rear Z32 brakes because they're drum brakes. So people would use their stock disc brakes in the back...

Edit: Anyone know why Nissan didnt make the Z32 4wheel disc?

They are 4 wheel disk brakes, but the e-brake uses a drum type brakeing system. &nbsp;I'm not sure how it works exactly.

But the nissan 300zx absolutely has 4 wheel disk brakes.

The hat of the rotor is really big and the drum brake is actually inside that. &nbsp;It's a cool system. &nbsp;Especially nice since you can use your e-brake even after you're hard on the brakes without fear of warpage. &nbsp;I want them.

Yeah, they do. &nbsp;In fact, here's a link to my photo library with pics of my 240 in the winter with the snow tires/wheels on. &nbsp;You'll see the Z brakes, too. &nbsp;They squeeze in there. &nbsp;The only 15's I'm NOT sure about are the base S14 ones...that's a mystery. &nbsp;Someone should test them out. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':cool:'>

Don't forget you end up with 5 lugs instead of the 4. &nbsp;This would be inherently stronger, even though I don't think it would actually matter. &nbsp;I had a pic of a black or gray 240 dropped with The bent 5star stock alloy 300zx rims. &nbsp;Looked very beefy. &nbsp;I guess you could also get some wide tread out back. &nbsp;Does any body know what kind of offset diffuclties or changes this would make to the vehicle.

P.S. Sport Compact Cars latest has info on how to do this full swap. &nbsp;Hope it doesn't blow the cost through the roof. &nbsp;The dusde that runs my local junkyard looks like he can't even read. Maybe I have a chance <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Z32 front brakes can fit in some 15 inch rims, it just depends on rim/spoke design. You don't have to have 5lug to use them either, just get a shop to re-drill the rotors in the front. I think you can visit scc's website to get the info on the rear upgrades. You can also go to www.projectsilvia.com and get the e-brake parts.

I just finished my z32 front brake/ 5 lug swap / 300z NA wheels on my car. Minus the wheels I did it all for less than 300 bux somewhere around. Bought all parts through car-part.com and local parts stores. Kind of a B*tch to swap hubs but other than that it's a pretty straight forward affair.

PS. For anyone who's done E-Brake work. How hard is it to replace the ebrake cable? As many times as I've been under my car I've never seen where it runs.
