Man it seems like every time i fix something another goes wrong. I just fixed my idle problem by cleaning out my throttle body and iacv. now i gotta replace my coolant temp sensor and spark plugs. Does this happen to you guys alot too?

Yeah. Old cars suck shit.... unless you have the income to stay on top of them. But why would you be driving a pile at that point; you'd think you could afford a nicer base vehicle or a well taken care of older car.

Mine has been pretty good since I bought it 4 years ago. Shit my motor outlasted my chasis, due to an unfortuanate accident. I haven't had to chase stuff al the time, but I did ALL of the maintenance when I bought it. On top of that the car was for sure dealer serviced so that helped. You'll chase your tail for a while, but if you keep up on it it will slow down.

i just wanted to vent cuz it seems like it's been happening a lot lately. i suppose it's just the usual wear and tear but overall everything has lasted a while.

Yea i feel the same way, it keeps me busy and i enjoy doing it. I have a problem with 240's, i bought a ford ranger with the intent to drive it daily and instead it just sits in my yard and now i bought a hatch that i daily drive instead...oh well.

i still need to do my IACV, but i dont feel like going through the trouble, and i think my timing might have jumped a tooth.

i know how you feel man, ive had my 240 for four years and it never changes.

atleast we're all in the same boat together and we have a place like this to turn to for questions, or just simply to vent.

^^^ seriously

I've had the same 240 for 8 years now. Almost the same set-up engine wise and there is always something wrong. It's funny, when it was my DD I had a lot less problems than I do now. Every time I have had a problem though I been able to search here and figure it out. Seriously, I have posted maybe once in 8 years a question that I couldn't find an answer too.

240 problems, age-related: water pump went out, coil started having problems in extreme cold, both door lock cylinders broke.

BMW problems, age-related: water pump, radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator vent screw, heater hoses, heater inlet pipe, window regulators, door handles, door panels, unknown bad-running bug, etc.

The Nissan has 20k more miles, too.
