Just swapped my sr20det into my s13 and started it the other day :hsdance: . Works perfectly, except the exhaust. The 5 studs that connect the turbo to the turbo elbow had some trouble with rust. I got 3 of them out, but one of them broke.
There is still a decently long peice sticking out, and one full stud sticking out. Any ideas to get these darn studs out? I have all new ones that I need to put in hahah.
It's pretty easy to imagine what it looks like, just a rusted 2 sided stud that won't come out of the turbo. Tried a shitload of stuff (WD40, PB, Brake Fluid) nothing seemed to loosen it. Any ideas? I don't want to have to take off the turbo.

Well considering it is most likely a 15 year old turbo that wont last for a long time. I would just say fuck it and weld your elbow on.
Or you can try 4 bolts which I have done with good results.
Or you can upgrade your turbo...
Or try to get the broken stud out.

Gunk makes this liquid wrench stuff that works dam good. or you could do it the getto way and slot the remaining stud with a dremel or somthing and use a flat head to back it out. ONLY if theres about a 1/4in sticking out. I dont recomend doing it that way. Or you could drill it out and use a speacial tool to back it out, but i dont nkow much about it or how to do it. Get creative, these things usually arent the end of the world. You'll get it out.

take a pair of vise grips and tighten the hell out of it on the shaft of the stud, you may need to get a set of slip joint pliers to close them. Once the vise grips are on there nice and tight, set it on a bench vise, or get a friend to hold it down, heat it up for a long time. After it's nice and hot, try not to touch it with bare hands and turn the vise grips.

Damn usually PB Blaster does the trick for stuff like that, I would next try a MAP gas torch.
