Ive never had to use a wireless router before so i have no idea what would be a good router that i could use. It will be in an apartment. I would like something that is fast so i can do some gaming from time to time. Also download some holiday porn.

does anyone have any suggestions???

also money is an issue i would like to spend around $50...

thanks,
Jade

do you need 802.11n? i dont think so

if not, your best bet would be the Linksys WRT54G. cheap, fast, reliable

LINKSYS!

Ive use about 3 different companies, linksys, d-link, etc.

linksys has been the best to me,

plus I updated the firmware to an... unhealthy output, and man... it has some damn range...

I've been using this one for 3 years without a hitch. I'd recommend it.

Yeah I also use the WRT54G model. Had it for about 2 years already, and it's still runnin strong. Range is not bad at all. If you know how to open ports for downloading, then speeds shouldn't be affected much. Might even be faster.

WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware. A couple of my friends use the D-Link DGL routers and love them.

do you want a good router and something that's reliable ?
get a Cisco 800 Series

edit: I know they are pricey, but hell, they'll outlast your PC, that's for sure, lol

Apple Airport Extreme!!!

We use these at work for touch panels remotes that need wifi to speak to our equipment. They are pricy but well worth the money.

We use to use Linksys but in big houses, even with WAP's around the house, the touchpanels lose signal alot.

WRT54G + DD-WRT is all you need.
Been rocking it since day one.
None of that D-Link, Netgear nonsense.

(1,000 post? Why can't I quit you zilvia?)

I've had my netgear wireless router since '03, no problems at all. My Wii and lappy are in the living room and have never lost reception either.

tom's hardware had reviews of routers an their speeds.
Currently using my Linksys as a repeater to get better range in the house.

Using a belkin right now. Computer is hardwired and the ps3 is wireless. Works great for what I need it for and it was pretty cheap.
