Backing up

Wehn i am backing up, most of the time i hear a grinding noise... its kinda loud also, i looked under my car it is not my exaust scraping, and ideas?... i would like to get it fixed thanks guys

brakes ... same thing happened to me and my friend who also has a 240sx
if the pads r gone it will grind also if your caliper is seized and u have no pads it will do the same......
when was the last time u changed them?
the 240sx  rear pads are a bitch to change so make sure u do it once and get good ones  not like the autozone pad which last for 1/2-1 yr

yup, I'd say it's definately the rear pads, but on the S14 they are really easy to change, might as well get some decent ones any way though, it will save you from doing it again soon, especially if you drive like me. &nbsp;Buy the shims if they are not all in perfect reusable condition and apply plenty of anti-squeel blue stuff to the back side of the pad to eliminate noises. &nbsp;The rear pads turn in rather than compress, I was able to simply turn them in with a vise grip, just be careful not to rip the protective but...bam your done

I get that noise too...although i have PLENTY of meat left on my pads...and it doesn't happen too often....it's sporatic...and i haven't had it recently?? could it still be the seized calipers?? any other ideas??

more than likely its your rotors not your calipers if they are not worn. i had this on mine i just resurfaced the rotors and it dispappeared.

could be a siezed caliper to check for that

the reverse "grind" is common enough to be FAQed most places. &nbsp;check 240sx.org for some more info...search threads here...it's been discussed plenty - usually ends up being (brake) clips that are loose or something.
