i was wondering if it was possible to get pistons and rods for a turbo set up that would still let me drive my car while it is n/a until i put my turbo put on? i've heard that the compression wont be high enough or something so the engine wont run, is this true? also, if anyone knows of any sites that sell pistons/rods/etc for ka24de turbo please post them. also, anyone with experience with this type of thing please post your knowledge.
thanks

You will be running 8:1 or 8.5:1 compression pistons for turbo, and doing that now will reduce your power by about 10%. And you car will run, but not fast. Compression won't keep your engine from running. In a '72 Chrystler Newport, their 400ci engine runs 7.8:1 CR.
If you can deal with sluggish engine, swap now, if not, wait.
And rods won't do anything negative.

Personally, I'd buy it peice by peice and then just install it all at once...rather than put the internals in now and suffer the performance loss until you can save up for the turbo and other parts.

i have a set of stock rods and a new set of forged 8.5:1 pistons for a .020 overbore,. if your interested im not using them. you can still run stock ecu with lower compression. ive done it it just doesnt have the pep off the line.
e amil me if your interested,
