View Full Version : Tire SMOKE!!

Ive used a few tires in my day and still not sure which ones produce the most smoke. My theory is the softer the tire the more smoke, but the harder the tire its easier to spin. But thats just my theory
we can use this thread to find a cheap tire that will smoke out the crowd!!
if you post a pic, if possible put tire brand and model
Anyway just want a little feedback.
thanks in advance

I have found that i all depends on BRAND of tire and the compound being used. For some reason, shitty ass 595ss tires smoke a lot. I personally think its just what goes into the rubber.

I got a shitload of smoke out of some kum ho ecsta 712s just locking up the brakes once, but i never get any out of the all season M+S that are on my car now.
Your theory is correct for the most part. like gotta240 said, different brands use different rubber formulas

Wow so some cheap tires will get good smoke then. I have the kumho ecstas also and dont get very much smoke from them unless I spin them for a while. runnin 320whp.
So my theory is partialy correct so far. Any more feedback?? +1 for you guys.
Thanks

Just a lil more info... cheap or expensive doesn't mean much.
I've used some super cheap general tires that didn't smoke at all. I've also used super expensive michelin pilots and other RUNFLAT tires that didn't produce smoke.

Oils in the tire make smoke.
DZ101 makes alot of smoke and as such gets really greasy when it gets hot.

DZ101's have an on off switch for smoke. Once they hit the right temp its like lights on.

That's right, I remember seeing those now. They stretch really easy. I had a 235/40 on my 18x10s and they went on like pie. Just mounted them and aired them up like normal. I think it may be because they have a single ply sidewall. Either way, you were Smokey McSmokester at VIR this year, and everywhere else from the vids I've seen.
