View Full Version : Your opinion...What newer(02+) Nissan/Infiniti to get?

Damn just noticed infiniti^^^

Needs to be in sub 350 bucks a month. I was thinking a 02 Sentra SE-R Spev-V, 02-03 maxima, 02-03 350, 02 q45, and maybe an suv. I think if I get the sentra/350/maxima it will turn into a project. I may get something comfy and keep the s13 to toy with. IDK. Or get another 240, possibly an s14a and save some dough. Theres just the thought of knowing its a newer car and it is pretty much going to be reliable which intrigues me. Every time I tinker with the 240 I get paranoid thinking what if I did that wrong or forgot that..and then I worry about getting to work next.

Im bais toward the 02,03 Maxima cause I own one but they are good cars. I have a 3.5 6 speed and besides it not being RWD I have no complaints plenty on power on tap. I've heard stories on the V spec being quicker but I haven't found this to be true. Besides there isn't too much out there in the performance aftermarket so it will save you in the long run.

If you get a A33 make sure the wheel bearings are not shot because its kinda common.

2nd Choice would be G35 sedan 6MT. (I have a small family so I need the room)

Thanks man. Don't get me wrong I love the hatchy but buckets seat and loud exhaust note can be annoying. I need something more comfortable and prolly 4 door. It can't be a pig either. I need to start the test driving phase. Maximas make power 265 with newest models and are 4dr and appear to have decent room in back. I still haven't decided if I want another manual or auto either......ugh I'm lost.

Looks like credit will be deciding most of this. 02/03 maximas are going for 14-15k. Sentra b15's(i believe) SER SPEV bla bla, can be had for less than 8-9k.

IMO you should stay away from the qr25.... spec v or altima
any vq maxima is a safe bet... vg's are gas guzzler's by comparison

for the 2.5 altima headgaskets, crank positions sensors, along with oil consumption are all common

you're not going to be getting a 02 q45 for sub 350 a month. 6sp g35 sedans are hard to come by if that interests you. lease a new altima coupe or something.

The qr was one of the few bad engines nissan has put out. I remember something on the lines of some kind of throttle body pins backing out and being chewed up and shit out. The vq30 and 35 are great engines that have been proven again and again. I might get a black on black, vq35 maxima with an intake, exhaust, and some 18" work emotions....yeah...ooohhhh yeeaaahhhh.. Thanks for replies.

i would get a Q45, but i would get an 01 for the older bodystyle instead of an 02, but i guess thats just preference.

M45=Ballin, but too ballin for me. Thats what I originally wanted was a 4dr luxury infiniti. That way with a car like one of these I won't touch nothing. Maybe some tint, wheels, and a system. If I know I can't work on something I wont. Thanks for all responses.

96-01 q45 is your best bet. 5-12k in price and can look pretty ballin just being dropped on some wheels.

DO NOT PAY 15K for a 02-03 Maxima unless you buy it from me then it is ok. The newer maxima's are heavier than the A33 and more expensive than the range you were talking about. And yes credit is going to determine your payment but make sure you get a good rate.

The newer M is gangsta as mentioned but the only reason I don't have one is because even the used M_5's have gangsta prices.

Test drive a Max or G35 and see which one you like the automatic are cheaper and easier to find, but 6spd VQ is going to be harder to find and harder to get cheap.

Test drive any cars yet?

I tested some maximas a while back and loved them.

ive always liked the SE-R's [sentra]. 4 doors, decent gas mileage, relatively fun to drive, and the price is pretty good on them.

I drive an 03 g sedan. You get a little bit of everything. I love it. You can get one for around 350.00 a month.

+1 for the versa. Gotta save gas yo. Also for some reason, there's an available 6-speed option.

It would be different if I was a ford or chevy guy then there would be less good shit to choose from. I'm in no super rush for now. I'm leaning towards a altima ser or a 4 dr infinti.
