Well i did the 5spd to auto swap mostly so i could sell the car as a running car and not a shell. Well the engine is in and running and the car drives. I swapped the whole front chassis harness and everything wiring related. Im just having an issue with the gauge cluster. Nothing on it works. All that works is the check engine light which is on 24/7 and the low gas light. I swapped gauge cluster with an automatic one but di i need to swap the gauge cluster harness?
I searched on here but everyone always does the auto to 5spd swap.
If anyone knows what it could be some help would be awesome.
thanks
I am not sure but doesn't this have something to do with the speed sensor?

I didn't think i would need the 5spd speed sensor since i swapped all harness's.(engine, front chassis with fuse boxes, lower engine)

In doing a 5 speed swap there is no need to switch the gauge cluster. In fact there is no need to go as far as you did. Though you did it and its done. The question on the gauge cluster makes me think you switched from a single cam to dual cam setup. If that is so the culprit may be using a single cam cluster on a dual cam wiring setup. In that case your tach would not work. As far as the speedo goes, the speed sensor wire is a seperate wire going to the trans. So if nots working, I would check that its connected. If you are getting a CEL and gas gauge info then power is arriving at the cluster and the problems are elsewhere. Of course the gauge cluster could be funky as well.

sorry i forgot to add it is a sohc to sohc swap. I just went and checked some more stuff and the gas gauge works it just keeps going up though and doesn't stop.

it sounds like that it may be a voltage regulator that went out. i had the same problem on my f31, either none of the gauges worked or they were all erratic. go ahead and pull your gauge cluster out with the wiring still connected. find your voltage regulator. after that turn on power and pull out your multimeter. ther should be 3 wires coming out of it, the ground will be the wire in the middle. when you check it, it should read out to be 8v. if it's reading anything lower than that, then that's what you need to replace.
if you're not too sure on where to look for any thing, then result to looking at a wiring diagram

+rep for you, i'll try that as soon as i get another battery for my multimeter.

He did 5 speed to auto not auto to 5 speed.

Did you use a automatic engine wiring harness for your swap?

yeah everything i used was out of an automatic 240.
