Im having my intercooler piping done by this shop over here, and I ordered a slim battery from heavy throttle, now the problem is that the battery is not slim enough. I was thinking of removing the washer fliud reservoir(sp?) so i could have more room for the battery.  What would you guys recommend??

You have tried turning the battery correct? How bout putting it on it's side?

Doesn't matter how you have the battery oriented (as long as it's dry cell) just as long at all connections are secure.

Can anyone back me up on this? I haven't had any experience with these slim battaries.

can't say that I can back you up on that one but the easiest is just to relocate it to the trunk.......saves all the hassle.....

I tried using a honda 51R battery that someone said would fit...didnt work. Even if I got a smaller battery than the tiny 51r you still need to take out your battery try thats tack welded in there. I messed with it on my s14 and finally came to the conclusion to just relocate to the trunk...the wiring kit is around 25 bucks and you could find any box to put it in....i think im gonna make one out of wood so it mounts easier, then paint it with some graphics...tacky but its my own style;)

Couldn't you just find a plastic toolbox for like $15 and use that for the box?

Most of the places that sell engines sell slim dry-cell batteries. Check with them. Heavythrottle.com has them, and that's what they recommend with IC piping.

You can buy a cheap battery box from a marine place. Or buy one of those plastic boxes from walmart. And as far as wiring, i went with some thin ass wire from lowe's (my 120 watt subwoofre size thin) and have had no problems. No loss in power or anything either, and the wire doesn't heat up when turning the starter over and over again while checking compression.

Wood weighs more. 15 lbs = 1 hp.

Don't forget there's safety issues involved. Have you ever seen what happens to a car battery when it leaks? And the Fumes!!! Very toxic man, in the engine bay, you have the firewall protecting you, in the trunk, all you have is the battery box.

If you have the $ to do things to your car that requires moving the battery to the trunk, you can spend the $ to do it right. ****, if you're that much of a cheap a$$, just put it in your passenger seat. If you can't afford $15 for the box (which is still scary cheap) you definitely aren't affording the extra wires needed to extend the connections back there.

Best just to do the move correctly or get a smaller battery like mine:

Dude... you obviously dont understand a little sarcasm. I got plenty of money I got an s14 w/ the sr FMIC LSD Wheels Phatty paint Teins, Bomex kit and more...and as i might not do a wood box set up I sure an NOT going to go to Walmart for an ugly ASS plastic container made for storage and can't conseal battery acid. But, for technicalitie's sake when I paint my CHEAP ASS wooden box I put some good sealant on it just for you....guess guys dont get so but-hurt when people voice their personalities. Dont make writing posts so boring (us non-computer nerds will fall asleep at the keyboard). :o

HAHAHAHHA!
Dam/\/ man, you took that pretty seriously, heheehee
All I was saying was that safety is way more important than saving a few bucks. I didn't set out to flame you, if anyone got "but-hurt" it was obviously you. I just don't like hearing about disasters.

Your post did enterain tho! I'm not sure what "Phatty paint Teins" are... did you pearl coat them or something? Oh, and "technicalitie", I don't think that's a word, but it sure gave me a good laugh. You're pretty new here still so I'm being nice instead of flaming all over like you attempted.

I never set out for you to feel "but-hurt" for "voicing your personality"... actually doesn't EVERYONE voice their "personality" all the time? I mean, unless you just sit in a corner and never speak to anyone, you're pretty much defining your character in ever word and action... but I'm getting off on a tangent.

I was just voicing my strong feeling that safety should be primary in your car. Looking good and going fast should always sit shotgun to your own well being, you'd think that'd be obvious, but it's amazing how many people only care about speed or looks :/

Oh, and the computer nerd crack. hahahha! man! that was way outta left field! I hope that was part of your "sarcasm", cuz if you're still of the mindset that "computer nerds" are still akin to the revenge of the nerds movies of the 80's, you're pretty behind the times man. I make good money and amazing benefits being a "computer nerd". I'll take the name and all it implies ($). Anyone, regardless of whether they're in the IT/tech profession or not, who doesn't at the very least recognize the social and economic importance of the field might as well put their head right back in the sand and keep telling themself that there's a promising future, if they could just get away from the grill, cuz assistant manager is just around the corner! Then transfer to ANY service industry branch is possible!

Hmm... I guess that last bit was a lil mean, I smell the flames already
:p

LOL! SR20 guy got butt-hurt. Anyway... keep flames to a minimum. And here... clearly Yoshi is in the right.

if its a dry cell there isnt anything to leak, and thats what the puropse of the box it, to have a tube to vent the fumes to the outside of the car

just re route to the trunk, its less trouble and more space under the hood
