I just got a s14 jdm gauge cluster. Its going in my bone stock ka24de usdm s14. Can i just hook i up or do i need the harness? I searched.

should be plug and play... only one way to find out- pull out your old cluster and see if the jdm cluster fits

It will plug right in. Not sure if the speed sensor will have to be changed or not though.


I just used the SR tach but the whole cluster was plug and play

O ok. I can deal with no speedo. I just need the tach mainly. Thanks guys.

usdm or jdm... doesn't matter about the speedo sensor since they are the same. it's just a matter of if you can convert km/h to mph fast enough in your head:2f2f:

I have this done and I converted the KMH to MPH so I don't need to convert anything. Just need to make sure you have a zenki cluster or kouki cluster for the right car, the plugs are different.

Its a Zenki. How did you convert the kph to mph? Just plug it in and it does it by itself?

Haha I wish it was that easy. Take apart the cluster and look on the back of the speedo. There is one resistor you have to remove to make it count the odometer in miles (just compare your usdm to jdm and find which one is extra) Then you will see a bunch of solders with numbers next to it that range from 0-9 on one side. Each number corresponds to a certain percentage of resistance that detemines how far the needle moves. Each case will be different so you will have to do some calculations. I'll try to find that info on which number = what percent again.

the only thing different is the gauge face itself... if you were to take the time and pull the gauge face off your old cluster and stuck it on the new one it would actually read in mph. but of course your odometer and trip meter would still read in km...no getting around that

question is why do u want to go through all the hassle just to put in a jdm cluster? Are you doing it for the white face (se cluster) ? If that was the case it be easier just to get a USDM SE cluster. Other than that, i don't see a real purpose besides saying you have a "JDM" Cluster that reads in kmh. Anyhow your gonna need to make sure if the JDM cluster you have is out of a zenki or kouki. zenki and kouki have different plugs and would not make it a plug and play affair.

the kmph readings are with the 4,5, & 6 ADJUSTERS SOLDIERED.
to get MPH readings you need to soldier 4,6,7, & 8

It's different on each cluster. I've done it on each of my 2 kouki's, please don't tell people false info and mess up their speedo beyond they're knowledge on how to repair.

Edit: Also, no I have not found what numbers correspond to what resistance percentage.

there was a write up about that. a guy went and soldered some dip switches in to turn on/off each of those pins to figure out where he needed to be for his setup. maybe it was on FA. But I do remember seeing that chart that tells you a value for each pin, IIRC they start out small (.1%) and go up.

Different on each cluster or different on each gearing and tire size set-up?

correct me if I'm wrong but all the S14's had the same FD ratio, same tranny ratio's, and tire sizes. I don't see how the gauges would differ in reading if they all share the same exact spec's?

I would've thought so too, but from the DIY thread example, my first cluster, and my second cluster all had different points soldered. It's probably because each cluster has a certain defect rate and the points on the back help to get it right.
