View Full Version : where should I put my water temp sensor?

I have an inline adapter for my aftermarket sensor/gauge and just wondreing if i should put it in the upper or lower hose for best reading?

I would get one of these. It'll make your engine bay look cleaner. Unless you don’t have a Sr then I would just mount it in the upper hose for the ka.

nice but already have the adapter that matches my gauge. and an RB25 :2f2f:

well the upper hose will show the line. to hide it a little more Id do the lower.

Alot of people mount it on the water neck the upper rad hose connects to.. (on the SR of course)

On a KA I'd mount it in that little bleeder screw to the side of the valve cover...

in theory wouldnt it read a little colder than actual if i put it in the lower hose?

Yes because the water is being hit with cool air passing through the radiator. The two spots I mentioned are ideal because the sensor would read off water passing through the motor...

i want the best reading so upper hose it is. im sure i can angle it down and towards the engine so i can run the wire through the harness thats already there.
