well, just today, i noticed my clutch was slipping a bit, and when i'm stopped at a light if i shift into gear, the car jerks forward a lil bit...  what does all this mean?  need new clutch?  where to get cheap clutch?

also, i recently removed my clutch fan, is this why my clutch is acting up? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':huh2:'>

The "clutch fan" (should be fan clutch I think) has nothing to do with the transmission clutch. &nbsp;It's a fan that is engaged by a temperature triggered clutch...completely separate component.

both fan clutch and the clutch is connected to the crank, so they've got to be working together.

only via the fan belt and pulley...not directly on the crank pulley.

perhaps you don't know, the clutch is not diretcly connected to the crank pully, it comes in contact with the flywheel, which is connected to the crank.

so here is how they are similar, neither of them are connected directly to the crank, they both connect to the crank through help of another device. &nbsp;the clutch fan is connected to the crank by a pully, and the clutch is in contact with the crank through flywheel

The clutch fan has about as much to do with the transmission clutch as your power steering pump does. Pulling your clutch fan will really only let your engine rev a bit freer

perhaps I don't know??? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':zzz:'>
You asked a question...I'm trying to answer it.
The fan clutch is not in the drive line, the clutch is.
Removing the fan clutch will not affect the the transmission clutch...unless by doing so you remove some gargantuan parasitic loss, releasing so much power that your clutch can't hold the power anymore (not gonna happen).

Hey meowth, there's a smiley in your quote.
Could that $100 possibly have been to replace the mechanical fan w/ an electrical fan?
And one more time for the short bus commuters....REMOVING THE FAN CLUTCH WILL NOT KILL THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw guys, it's amazing how you guys focus on the last statment of my whole post, it was more of a joke... but than you guys took it so serious i just tagged along, that bejamin guy is my buddy, he's playing along w/ my joke too, i'm just dogging on him for fun <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
need i remind you of rear ending vans, crashing into 323s, on top of kissing mountains? AND WHAT WAS THAT STUNT ABOUT TRYING TO PULL A FRAME OUT BY USING A TOW HOOK ALL ABOUT HUH? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':laugh:'>

for those who want to know, the fan clutch kit i paid 100 for includes water wetter, a new aux fan switch, a new thermostat, and some little gaskets and crap to replace so that when i remove my fan clutch, my engine doesn't start overheating like a certain idiot's here <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
I believe you could be listed as an accomplice in that little tow hook incident, good sir <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

back to the original question. i would suggest you check your clutch master and slave cylinders and the freeplay on the pedal. you might just need an adjustment or some new hydraulic system parts. but you might need a new clutch too. get an ACT.

how do you adjust it?

so if i take out the clutch, my engine will rev even better?</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
Oh what the hell? I'll play.

Simply yes. Remove your clutch, transmission, drive shaft, Differential and your engine will rev free. An engine on a stand with no "DRIVE TRAIN LOSS" to worry about will rev better. Ever hear someone mention horse power at the flywheel versus horsepower at the tires? Ever wonder why there is a difference in the two numbers?

But that is just plain silly.....

If your clutch is slipping it's either because of age, or because you have too much power for the clutch disk to hold.

I think you've had your head stuck in too many fender wells.

Also, just re-read the original post.

You said the car jerked. &nbsp;Most likely you didn't have the rpms up quite where the car likes it to get moving. &nbsp;

A good way to tell if your clutch is slipping is to accelerate from a roll. &nbsp;If the rpm's increase but the car seems slow to accelerate, it would indicate a slipping clutch. &nbsp;

My 180SX did this to me just after I bought it. &nbsp;I thought the clutch was going, so the first time I got on an expressway, I got a good speed going, leveled off for a bit then pushed the gas down hard.

The car took longer than it should have to start accelerating. &nbsp;Over the next two days the clutch started to get worse. &nbsp;To the point where I was at about 6000 rpms and doing around 40 kph in 3rd gear. &nbsp;

Barely made it to the shop that was going to swap the clutch out.

thanx man, by me saying the car jerks forward a lil bit while i'm not moving, it's like, it moves forward a lil bit with my foot on the clutch, someone told my it could be my synchros?

also, how do adjust the clutch? i seriously have no money for it...

alright, thanx guys, after an unmeasureable amount of time, in the world's oddest position, i managed to slice up my right hand in 2 different spots (thanx to the razer sharp clutch peddle), i've figured out how to adjsut the thing, i took every freakin thing apart, and finally discovered it. &nbsp;you have to losten the 12mm bolt and turn the lil rod. &nbsp;thanx, got the problem fixed, though i messed up putting &nbsp;it back together, now my clutch peddle sits SLIGHTLY higher than the rest, but i'll live w/ that
