I decided to get a 240SX at the 16E exit on I-95 while waiting to go through the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan. I saw this white car ahead of me with a body kit. It was an S14 badged as a Silvia. It was one of the nicest looking cars I had ever seen. I passed him and heard the turbo spooling and I saw the front mount intercooler. I had been looking into buying a new car and seeing that was the nail in the coffin. I had to have a 240SX.

I was 15 and needed a car for around 3-4k$ I had saved. I had been looking everywhere and knew I liked Nissan because of the Z and ended up seeing a 89 240SX in a Auto Trader and I though it was badass since I never had seen them around. I went a test drove it and fell in love on the spot and bought it. Back in the good old days when there were like 2 mini sites for the 240sx. Ahh good memories

i was 15.5 and lookin for a cheap car and me and my mom were driving and she saw it parked in a driveway and she thought it looked nice so we looked at it and bought it the same day (93 SE for $7400, it was REAL cheap at the time). i regretted buying it A LOT at first because it was a 5-speed and RWD and i didn't feel safe driving it as a beginner. later it grew on me more and more and i realized that girls thought it was really nice . now i'm just REALLY attached to it, i have a lot of good memories in it (i'm 20) :sniff sniff: and i LOVE driving it compared most other cars i've driven (i valeted at a high class golf course and worked at an Inifiti dealer for a while) so i can't part with it even if i had to.

I was about 16 and a half when I first started to want a 240. My sisters roommate had a white 5sp 94 se and that's when I first started to really want one. Before that I was driving a Legend so getting a 240 was totally different at first.

...after i saw initial D!!! not really, but too many people rip on initial d, i found it quite entertaining.

several months ago. i was looking for a replacement for my mustang that i could tune easily enough, and was rear wheel drive. somehow i ended up thinking the 240 was a decent platform. soo, months later, im still waiting to find the right 97/98 in my area of around 100 miles. ohh well, the hunt makes the prize feel better.

About 3 months ago (im 17) I saw one driving down the freeway, and I freaked out at how beautiful it was. Then I started looking for a car of my own for 4k or less, and the 240 was my prime pick because I saw all the things you could do to it, so I found one, and bought it

about 2 years ago... I was talking to my cousin about buying a car. I loved the RX7 (FD) but my parents wouldn't buy it for me... so I asked for the 240sx which was as close as I could get to the FD for a reasonable price. I ended up getting a volkswagen GTi... but that's besides the point.

I eventually got my RPS13 about 8 or 9 months ago, when I saved enough money on the side and bought it w/out the parents knowing. And no, I don't live at home.

I was at the Honda dealership because they said they had a 300zx on the way (the car I have been in love with since I was a little girl). Instead a 95 green/blue/purple 240 pulled up, all low-slung and sexy looking. It was an automatic, but after the test drive I had to have it.

One year later a friend scoped out a 98 at a dealership up the road. I traded my 95 in although it was still the love of my life. The 98 was a manual tranny and of course it was the last year they made them in the U.S. Even though I still love the 300's, I wouldn't trade my 240 for the world...just maybe a skyline R34 GTR V-Spec (hey, its my dreamworld, right?)!

Summer of 1996, I was 24 at the time. I planned to visit a friend in Washington, D.C. around July 4th, and didn't want to drive from South Carolina in the 1988 longbed 3-speed automatic Dodge Ram I'd inherited when my granddad passed away a year earlier, so I decided to get back into a smallish sports-car-type vehicle. My first car was a 1974 Datsun 260Z, but more on that one another time.

Anyway, I was looking around and test-driving various cars. I'd looked at Eclipses and was this close to getting a white Probe GT when I saw her across the lot. Maybe it was just a fleeting reflection off the window, but I could swear she winked at me. I walked slowly over, admiring her curves, and she whispered, "Dance with me." I obliged, and was soon found myself irretrievably in love. She was at once fresh and familiar, like my old Z but without all the rough edges and with a working AC.

She seduced me, and I took her home that night. SeXy Sadie and I have spent a lot of time together since then, and even after I'm rid of my first wife I'll still have my sweet gray lady. I may eventually take her away from the hassle of the daily drive and let her live out her racer fantasies, but as long as she's living I don't see myself getting rid of her.

Oh yeah, SeXy Sadie is a charcoal pearl 1993 SE hatchback with the usual goodies but no ABS or LSD. She wears 16x7.5 TSW Hockenheim R wheels and will have AGXs and ProKits in a week or two.

about a year ago when SCC did that article on the SR20 swap... at the time i had been planning on buying an old civic hatch and swapping in a B16, but... why do that when for a little more i could have a turbo, 203 horse, unique-to-STL car like an s13 silvia?
-note- i'm 18.
well... things didn't go according to plan. i was going to hold on to my Lebaron vert for a while, sell it mid summer for a beater 240, and import a front clip and the body parts... and have the whole shebang painted and lookin' great by school.
no, that didn't happen.... in july, some asshole swerved into me on the highway, and totalled my 'baron... i got a nice chunk of change out of it, but i couldn't find a 240 in the pircerange i wanted... i.e. real cheap with a bad engine. plus, venus and every other imorter i checked out had drastically jacked up the price on 240 parts. SCC is a double-edged sword. i wound up buying a '92 with an assload of miles for 1500, getting it a new clutch and exhaust, and now it's cost me well over 3500... and it's got a bondo trunk and little dents and scratches everywhere. i'm gonna try to sell it's ass soon, try my luck again. but i wil say this: the 240 is a bitchin' car, quite possibly the most fun car i've ever driven. this has been an amazing second car...

About a week ago when I saw EvilS14's car at the nissan meet. It was everything that I had wanted, none of this front wheel drive bullshit. I offered him money on the spot, but no luck. 240 owners really love their cars. i currently own a 1998 Sentra SE (for sale) and am in the market for either an S14 kouki or and S13 coupe. Boostin as soon as possible. -BEN

I had a 92 sentra SE and was lookin for possibly gettin a classic se-r. In my searches on sr20deforums i found that a 240sx was for sale in jersey (im in pa), i drove to jersey and we met somewhere and followed him back to his house. As i was goin to the meeting point and i looked back in traffic and saw it, it was love at first sight and when i went for the test drive, i was hooked. left a deposit and later came and picked it up

I was clued into the car around '96 or '97 or so, at the time I was a big domestic car fan and didn't know much about imports whatsoever. Around then I started posting on the forum for Bryan's Rice-Boy Page (the original! ) and a couple people on that forum had 240SXs... I learned from them about the different variants, the Silvia and 180SX, SR swaps and drifting, a lot of the stuff that's pretty universal today but was way out in left field for a kid from upstate NY back then. I liked the S14a when it was new, and lusted after some early release photos of the S15 just hoping Nissan would give it the green light for US sales.

But, practicality forced in its ugly head, I couldn't find a decent 240SX in my neck of the woods, so I defaulted to my Mopar roots and bought a Neon. S13s were still pretty expensive 3 years ago, at least for an 18 year old in college with no job. My parents were willing to help me with the Neon because it was FWD with airbags... never mind it was damn quick too

I was about to buy a 240SX last fall to replace the Neon. I wanted a zenki S14 SE, and I found a few screaming deals. One problem... the insurance rates were outrageous. So I bought my GTI instead. My GTI is a fine car but it just makes me wish I'd bought an S14, or another Neon...

So this spring I had some extra money kicking around after selling my Neon and my failed S12 project, and I finally got my 240SX. Life couldn't be sweeter

I was looking for a different car, and was in North Dakota visiting relatives. Well, i was talking to one of my cousins, and mentioned that i was looking for a sports car, he said he had one in his quanset (its like a barn). The next day i checked it out and fell in love! It didnt run at the time because all the belts were off etc... I saved up and bought it 2 months later without ever testdriving it.

Best car i have owned to date...bar none! I have since sold that (kicking myself for it now) and am looking for another!

well...my history...brief...

93-12/95....drove a 91 corolla
1/96-10/99....drove a 91 escort (I actually miss that lil go-kart)
around 9/99, I decided to get a new car...something a little bit more sporty, with some HP. my fiance told me she'd leave me if I got a honda.....well...I found a picture of my red 92 coupe...looked nice....155hp....went and looked....bought it within 3 hours. man, talk about love at first site. since then, all I've done is every day search and search online about knowledge on my car. blew the engine in 11/99-12/00...(before I heard about the SR20)....paid 6k for a new one w/labor. that's right...that's how much it costs for a new KA. but it does have the warranty

Man. i have wanted a 240 forever. I first wanted one when was a freshman in highschool like 13. (*I am 17 now*) That is when i was first reading about cars. My friend in my study hall brought in Options magazine and i saw the 240 s14a. I wanted it ever since i saw the pic of the totally hooked JDM silvia. I would just research though my sophomore year then i decided that for my parents to buy me a "sports car" i would needto give them some cash. I got a job in the beginning of my junior year right before i turned 16. I pushed for a 240 for my first car, but pops gave me the thumbs down. He gave me his old 1990 Mercedes Benz 190E. That car was a tank. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice car but was not what i really wanted. I still had some hope to get a new car. I kept on saving. From that point i began seriously looking up 240's in the area for sale...I wanted to make sure to get the right one. Well another year goes by and i still dont have a 240. Last Feb. (2002) my sister began driving and my dad gave me the green light to SERIOUSLY look for a new car. I had been looking for that time, but the right one was not yet found. I finally, last month found one 1996 240sx base in immaculate condition with 53k miles for $7300 (it wasnt my dream car but its still a 240). I snagged it. I even had enough money to pay off half of it with cash from saving. Well now i have my 240 and it is great. I am so happy with this car. It was definately worth the wait!!! (Sorry about such a long story)

you guys are gonn kick my ass.. but DSC and DMCs14 can vouche for me, i had a 95 civic v-tec and a 97 integra LS b4 i had my 240.. i loved both of them at the time.. but i sold the teg cuz of tranny problems.. then bought the civic and it was a lemon so we went through a big battle with a "certified" honda dealership, (won't say any names cuz i don't wan tto embarrass HALL HONDA) well i was depressed.... Varsity football player, had a girlfriend always buggin me to drive and i had a 97 form windstar to drive to after game partes adn to school. It sucked i drive it for 2 monthes till my mom talked my dad into lettiing me have his 1990 aztec red 5 speed 240sx. i had totally disreguarded that car, b/c it was my dads baby, and it had been garge kept for 9 years... 70K on the engine. plus i didn't know too much of nissan , i was a honda boy well i drive it a instantly in love It was pure perfection...sinse then utterly obsessed with 240's and nissans. well looking for a nice new s14 with low mi great shape.. i cant wait till i have the feeling of perfection again.

Ahh yes back in the day when I was 14 and a ricer boy I read super street breathed super street lived super street I wanted a civic si (typical) then a gsr then a civic hb and dreamed of having a s2000 ofcourse hooked up with neons and everything. Then I met several highschool seniors and sophomore of college. They led me away from the rice side and introduved me to true performance. They taught me about suspension, weight, terms, everything then I began to search the net for other car forums other then honda-tech. I found zilvia when I was 15 and read about 240's did research on their strong points, stats of the car etc. Then found pictures of the 180sxz in japan and the type x fell in love with the car bought one when I turned 16 and eversince 240sx has been my life also girls and anime ...... soccer and .. nevermind

Be a Nissan 2. Have a turbo.I figured that should tide me over til I get back to the states and buy a 300ZX. I knew I would want a S13 so I bought one. Now I want a S14 when I get back to the states instead of a Z

I was 14 (Im 19 now going on 20)...... I loved hatchbacks back then. The first car I really liked was the Geo Metro . Laugh if you want but to me that car was the shiznik. Then when I was 15 I read Stupid Street for the first time and was hooked. My dream car changed from a Geo Metro to a Black Civic hb with white rims. My brother (who is 4 years older than me, and 19 at the time) had to beat it into my brain that civics were slow cars. I remember playing Gand turismo with him. I would get the black civic and he would get some fast car of course. At the start he would kill me, gaining a pretty good distance lead. But as the race went on he would crash sometimes on the turns and I would take them going at top speed perfectly. I would usually catch up and give him a run for his money, and even beat him sometimes. ahh... the good ol' days before my bro went to college.

After my brother finnally beat the rice boy ways out of me I began to look for a car that fit me. I think it was when I downloaded a drifting video that I was hooked on the 240sx. It was a hatch back/rwd/and fit me perfectly. I had to get one. When I was 17 my bro gave me a 86 starion turbo (he had two others). It didnt run for long due to engine problems...Later I bought his 85 supra which was a awsome car but still no 240sx. Now Im 19... Driving a 93 eclipse...Still no 240sx... But Im saving, and plan on buying one at the end of this year or early next year.

240 or bust... (Sorry about spelling and what not, Im in a rush)

Back in Oct 99 ( when I was 17 )I was looking for my first car. My price range was 5-6k. I wasn't really looking for a 240 because I didn't know much about them and I didn't see many listed for sale in my area ( Delaware ). One night I called a Toyota dealership about a 96 Tercel with only 40k miles that was for around 6k. I decided to go and check it out......

but on the way for some reason I stopped by the Nissan dealer. I told the guy what my price range was and he said that they just received a 240 on a trade in When I saw that car I fell in looooove. It was a beautiful black 93 SE fastback with a vinyl/leather interior. I have never to date seen one just like mine anywhere else. I still have the car and I plan on keeping it FOREVER. It's my baby. I plan on hooking her up after I get out of college and save some money.

i wanted one when i was around 17 (22 now). i would rarely see them and i couldn't tell what they were from a distance, on the road. i finally got a car but i pretty much forgot about 'the car i wanted but didn't know what it was', nor did anybody else know what it could be. a couple years passed, my car broke down and i needed another one. my friend told me his friend's dad was selling a mazda mx6. i went to the the dude's house to check it out, no mx6 to be found, only the car i would see sometimes, but didn't know what the hell it was....a 240SX i test drove it and felt it was the car for me within 5 minutes. and when i did a little burnout, i was surprised to learn that it was RWD. i was also surprised that it didn't have a turbo (comparing it too many other 4 cylinders i've driven). hey, i was younger and didn't know anything about cars then.

Well, after some drunk rear-ended and totalled my Z28 I was forced back into the car market. I loved my camaro. I didn't love the insurance, or the money spent on gas. So what is a car in the import world that can closely mirror the Z28... (without saying Supra, 300zx, or RX7, which would have cost more in insurance)... The 240SX. I made my decision, and have never regretted it since.

And I always get a smile when I hear... "...is that a Skyline...?"

pretty much identical experience, except I was 19, and had $2500 to spend... I was initially drawn in by a 240z I saw at a mechanics, it was al down hill after that.

I never really had wanted one. I was looking for a cheap car when I was 17 (2.5 years ago), and my sister call from Miami telling me a friend of hers was selling a "white nissan, 200sx I think, '89, 80k miles" I look into it a bit, find it's a 240sx, put a check in the mail for $1200. It took a couple months before I could go get it (I live in Nevada). Drove it home. Liked it. Found a 5spd '92 SE at the car lot on Carson City exactly one year later. Sold my '89 to my sister, bought the '92, and have zero regrets.

When I figured out it was RWD and had near 50/50 weight ration, was pretty damn cheap with large aftermarket support and didn't have some goof ball engine in it that is always on the edge of destruction that needs 1500 dollar exhausts because it melts all the others. O yeah and I could actually fit in with out having to contort or bend myself to death. Yeah, can you tell I don't like RX-7's. O well, I have driven and destroyed a lot of vehicles but this is the first car I have bought two of and that I wash 3 times a week. I'd almost say that S13's are perfect for me in all respects, Yeah i will say it. My 240 is perfect!

Well, I was 16 1/2 at the time (2 yrs ago) and I had about 3k saved up for a car. I didn't know what exactly I wanted, I just knew it had to be RWD and japanese. After looking at some FCs and mkIII supras (both got the thubs-down from the folks) I stumbled upon a guy selling an '89 that he had bought new and $2500 later it was mine. 2 years and an SR later I have no regrets

In the Fall of 1998, when SCC did part one of their Project 240SX. I'd never even seen an S14 before. I was going to school at the time and had no $$$ to spend on a car, so there I was. Finished school, got a job, started looking, and finally snagged a '98 in the Fall of 2K1. The End.

There was a red 97 240sx tuned by HKS in a 1998 issue of Super Street. The car was smoking the tires in the issue....and was turboed. I feel in love with the S14a at that point (and I swore off the S13),....but after researching.....I ended up liking the S13 even more.....and I got one last January.

When I was looking for a new car because I got sandwiched in my 97 Mitsu Eclipse, I already knew what I had in mind. Either a Acura Integra GSR, Honda CRX w/ a engine swap, or a s14. At first, I was going to get the CRX because I found it for a good deal. It was dark gray, w/ a B16a engine swap. He was only selling it for $4500. When I was about to get it, I had to make sure that it would be OK from my friend (cuz he has a CRX too) and it would suck to have the same car if you had a honda. (Ofcorse, with 240sxs, its cool to have a few friends with them). Anyway, he said no, and at the same time, I was thinking "he's right, I wouldnt want a friend of mine to be get the same car, and then be Faster than me! )

After that, I decided on a 240sx. So I went on autotrader, cars.com, autoshoppermagazine.com, etc. The only 240sx I found were s13s, or s14s w/ very very high miles. So I said to my self, fuck it. Ill get a GSR. I found a White 97 GSR w/ the type-r interior. Now, i thought it was a good deal for 6000, then I found out it got into two accidents (front end). It was driving pretty well when I was driving it, but I still didnt want to take the chance of anything messin up later in the long run.

At this point, i was exhausted. I couldnt find crap. Until I went on eBay. I found a 95 240sx w/ 69000 miles. It was base model put stil had power everything. So I placed a bid. My max bid was $6000. I ended up buying it for $5600!!! Pretty good. So now, I'm happily married with my s14 and intend to do what everyone wants to do SR20DET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw Initial D.

Looked for inexpensive RWD coupe.

Found an S13.

Crashed the S13 (in a non-drifting related event, thank you).

Looked for an Accord or Impreza wagon (realizing that even the hatchback had its limitations for hockey equipment).

Found an S14.

Learned how to stuff 2 12" subs, 4 hockey bags, 3 people, and a ton of hockey sticks into a very confined space.

1996, I was 15. End of the freshmen year of high school, it was summer. My friends were into cars and I didn't understood anything. Until I started flipping through my friends' Carboy, Option, and other random JDM magazines. I was wondering where all the Hondas are in the magazines. My friend just told me, "Hondas suck in Japan. Not many people drive those. It's mostly Silvias, 180SX's, RX-7's, Skylines, Imprezas, and Supras there." I just borrowed his magazines cuz I thought the cars were cool. Even at the time, I was somewhat anti-Honda because my friend inputted into my mind that Hondas weren't the cars to tune despite the fact that my high school was infected with riceboys in Hondas.

I was flipping through the magazine and I went to some reader's rides section. There were many pictures, nothing really caught my attention. It showed charts of each car's stats, assuming "acceleration", "handling", etc. Then there was this BIG picture of a metallic blue 180SX with a Nismo body kit and Super Advans. God that car was sweet. There was also a black 180SX too. At my school, there was ONE gold 240SX coupe (89-90) that was modified. It had a random body kit (most likely Kaminari) for the zenki coupe and a big ass Supra wing. The Supra wing was ugly, but I thought the rest of the car was neat. Then on issues of Tuning Concept (it's an independent free publication), Kyosho Racing had two SR powered cars. A red fastback with kouki tail lamps, Nismo kit, JDM bumper lenses, and Racing Hart Type C's and of course, back then Ricky Chu's car still had the original front end with the Veilside kit with the Lexus blue paint job. Also there was an article on a team called "Advanced Motorsports" which sported a few SR swaps into a few S13's. Intriguing. That sure beats the hell out of any Honda hybrid swap. Anyway, the 240SX started to grow on me. I wanted it to be my first car, but my other friend who helped me look at cars talked me into getting an Integra. He just told me, "There's no parts (aftermarket) for the 240SX!" Now I am damned for life because of him and I now have to start all over again. Back then I didn't know much in the first place, now I can practically find anything for any car at this point thanks to the power of the internet. Oh well, lesson learned.

Lately I've been more interested in Imprezas (attending a bunch of i-club.com meets nearby), but I still want a 240SX eventually as a semi-project car that I'm not afraid to scuff up a bit. I haven't been on this board regularly for a half a year or more, but this was the place where I learned the majority of what I knew about the 240SX from n/a build ups, common problems, forced induction, what parts work and what don't, and a little about SR swaps. I think I've forgotten some of the info, but it'll eventually come back to me.

Oh yea, I was excited to see a 180SX on Initial D...too bad the driver's a schumck. However, Mako and Sayuki's Sileighty sure represented for the RPS13 crowd! That's how I learned about the Sileighty BTW...I think. Maybe I learned about it from before. *shrug* Too long ago. Six or seven years into the whole car thing, I've lost track.
