I read on 240sx.org that you can replace the stock 240SX Fuel Filter with a 300ZX Fuel filter.

I was basically due for a change, so I went to Kragen to buy a new fuel filter. I couldn't find one that was meant for the 240sx, but they did have a 300zx fuel filter, so I decided to use that.

Basically, the only difference that I noticed between the stock fuel filter and the 300zx fuel filter is that the 300zx fuel filter is a lot larger.

So anyway, Everything turned out fine. The removal and installation took around 30-40 minutes. Supposedly, using a 300zx fuel filter is supposed to give me better throttle response. Now for my question....

How would the new fuel filter give better throttle response, aside from the fact that it's new? Would it be that the larger (300zx) fuel filter is less restrictive?

Main reason for this "Mod" is because the 300ZX filter is cheaper. Its also bigger but you wont notice anything. Just a cleaner happier engine and wallet.

i did this as well, and saved $2 i think. i don't think the z filter would give any more throttle response, i think the people who said that just had clogged 240sx filters.

Are you sure your not mistaking the 300z fuel pump?  some people have swapped the fuel pump for the 300z's and seem to get better performance.  Just a thought.

Hmmm... Yea, it's probably the pump that gives a bit more power. I must have been confused. -=^_^=-
