Ok so I got my new 240 and I noticed that the guy took off all the smog components, and I was just wondering if anything bad will happen because of this. The check engine light is on due to this. I searched came up with nothing thanks.

You will not pass smog. You will be required to put all of it back on. It will cost you a shitload of money for a bunch of stupid little parts. That don't affect your performance enough to warrant taking them off in the first place.

In others words the guy fucked you. Take the car back to him and tell you need it smogged per California law or you want your money back.

the car should've been smogged (if necessary) before he sold it to you, he is correct

we don't test cars if:
MIL (check engine light) is on
missing or disconnected emission parts

note to self
remove check engine light from cluster before state inspections. :bigok:

we don't test cars if the MIL is inoperable either, it MUST light up on KOEO (key on engine off) and turn off at KOER (key on engine running)

to answer your question, the MIL (check engine light) isn't a pretty little light in your dash board that decides to showoff and turn on by itself. it means there's something wrong with it

so will anything happen if there are no smog components on the engine?

not for it's short coming. you will, no doubt about it, suffer from poor fuel economy. what parts are you missing anyway?
