Please explain this one. I met a guy this weekend with a '92 SE hatch that has HICAS AND HUD? I asked him if he re did the whole dash for that and he said no. Turns out he was the original owner and he had the window sticker in his glove box. It shows the heads up display listed as an option.
I thought HUD was not available on the hatches.

One more thing. It was not a Canadian model.

I haven't heard that the hatch never came with the HUD option. My friend has one. THe fact that he has HICAS also means he has LSD, and ABS <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>. Your buddy has pretty much the top of the line 240 from '92.

the hud WASN'T an option. if he's got it, it's custom work. if it's on the window sticker, then chances are his dealer did the work and got a pretty nice cut from it. i'm about to attempt a HUD install in my car...

It's not listed in any of the brochures, but, things happen. Could be dealer installed (at significant cost!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>, could be a factory 'oops'. I wonder what they charged for the option.
Get your buddy to scan the sticker if possible. Let's document this!

Sorry I didn't get write the price on the original post. $595.00 option. This was probably a steep price in '92, but for the work that would have to go into a dealer swap it seems like a bargain to me. Remember, this is not only the windshield "sticker" and "projector". He also has the digital dash cluster with the tach with the arm and digital speedometer.

yeah mos def. Hud didn't come as an option for fastbacks on usdm jdm or cdm cars... only coupes
maybe a dealer added it as an extra selling point <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Is the HUD really that hard to install. most the cars at the junkyard have them in em. One of the coupes is really clean , i wonder how much it would cost for the digital speedo,(i already got the HUD unit for 10 bucks, lady thought it was clock). is that all that is needed to put it in the car or is there more that i'm missing. would it be practical to get the whole dash instead of cutting a hole in your existing one.

I've seen 180SX's with HUDs (well, pictures of them). They're out there.
