I guess this is common on most 240's. But what you have to do is lock the door from the inside and as you close the door hold the handle until it's fully closed. Then the door would lock, you have to do this every time you close the door. Don't ask me how to fix it because i don't know, if i knew i would of fixed my door by now.
Hope this helps!

With the s13's you need to close the door with the handles up. Safety precaution, So i guess you dont lock your keys inside the car by accident. Same goes for most older cars. I have no idea about the s14's.

Sounds to me like the doors locking mechanism is old. I would proceed with checking the mechanical linkage between the two door units, making sure there is nothing actually sticking to another surface. from there get an elec. locking system, then proceed w/ an alarm!

Yeah my s13 doesn't have that problem. It sounds like my old toyota truck, where u had to hold up the handle and close it until it locks.

i know the early s13 hatchs did this, i just switched latches from a s13 coupe. no need to change keys or lock cylinders.

from my understanding the 89-91 does that gay shit. the 92+ does not.
