kinda wanted to make it myslef to save money.. anyways I remember there was a thread with prices/part #'s cant find it. I found this one which will be fine I guess http://www.club-s12.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13859&st=0&p=87566&#entry87566
Its basically something like this for high pressure line:
14mm x 1.5 to -6an (this fitting has an o.ring)
16mm x 1.5 to -6an (this fitting has an o.ring)
-6an power steering line (little different than standard SSbraided line)
-6an hose ends.
Edit: looks like you beat me to it.
But in the above, they use regular 14mm-6an adapters, I would use the ones made for PS. They aren't much more and no worries about a crush washer. Thats what I did.

Famous last words.
Seriously, on stuff like this, you probably will not save that much money if at all, especially if you bought retail.

you're actually about right on this one- considering time wise and cost of materials- its almost easier, if not faster than just buying it retail. Or you can just pay me to make it for you. :) In any case, here's the part #'s and descriptions of what you'll need.

I'm still figuring out a SOHC line but if you feel like saving yourself the hassle I have a line I can sell you for $65. 5000PSI rating and it deletes that silly hardline and sensor to go straight to the rack, or can keep the sensor and do it just as stock. Not to advertise here, but seriously buying retail will save you money on this one.

Regular teflon hose is perfectly fine with powersteering systems... You don't need a -6 hose either, -4 works perfectly fine.
If you want to know why, cut a factory PS hose in half - there is a coiled up brass "spring" that necks it down to probably 0.100" ID a few inches after the pump.

Bumping this with a question. I notice most of the aftermarket braided type lines are -6AN. Is that really big enough? Summit sells the Russel Powersteering hose in -8 and -10AN also. I would think at least an -8AN would be better. Anyone that actually knows something about it have any input?
go with -8 than.
and you don't need 6ft of PS hose like listed above.
and my pieces from summit were around $60 IIRC. Don't know how much Taka goes for, but for my turbo lines they were cheaper.

A -6 will work fine, -8 is ok, too. My PS lines are close to -6 if that helps this one goes straight to the rack but you can see that it's not much thicker then the hardline, and works great. Bottom end wasn't crimped yet in this pictures in case anyone's wondering.

Anything -4 AN or bigger is fine. That's bigger than the smallest ID in the stock rubber line.

i can get brand new 91-94 stock lines for 56+tax. and my friend just had a hose shop make his some and it costed him a little under 100. personaly i think the stock lines look alot better than aftermarket ones. i remember seeing ss braided hoses online for like 50 bucks. but the only problem with that is the ss braded hose rubs the rubber hose under it and starts to tare up the hoses. pluss all the dirt and dust that gets stuck in braded hoses.

I know I'm late, for the good stuff, but I run the -6an aeroquipTeflon line, with the Russell fittings. Works immaculate!
The price to do it yourself is way cheaper than any line you can buy prefabbed.
I have the Hicas pump and everyone was like our lines don't work or get a different pump huh? wtf...MAM
I'm actually glad I lost 6 of bigworms auctions. I think I had a bid of 180 at one point. OOouch!
I think I went overkill on the line, but after 5 1\2 years of leaking trans fluid
she is finally leak free.
The parts listed work for the SR hicas pump.

LOL at everyone saying how any line you buy is gonna cost more. I don't want to start any problems, but I sell one much better then the stainless ones, about as high quality as it gets and it's not pricey at all... just saying sure you can do it yourself but not all the good ones cost alot. :)

The aluminum fittings will start to leak btw.
I've seen a Z pop a regular braided line, it wasn't fun to clean up so I wouldn't dick around with anything other than the PS specific hose.

Bingo. Any good hydraulic hose shop can build you a line based off your old one, no matter how ratty it is, for less than $50, using high pressure hose and farrelled ends. I paid $23 for a high pressure hose for my car, shortened to eliminate the pressure switch and the extra foot of unused hadline. Plus it still looks OE, which is a huge plus in my book. I'm not a fan of all that blue/red ended shit with braid on it, I'm not building a '67 Chevelle here and could care less about it looking pretty, that's one less thing to keep clean or worry about some fool trying to steal too.

Why would they start to leak? Aluminum AN fittings in this size are good to over 4000-6000 psi when made from 6061. Straight unions are good for close to 10,000 psi.
The fittings typically blow up before they leak as well.
...and yes, I've personally tested this. :fawk2:
