Okay so im like 99% sure this is bad. So today I changed my 02 Sensor because my old one was shot and I also redid the clamps for my fmic piping doubt it has to do with this problem but you never know.
Well the problem as you will see in the video is the car (which was warm already) is smoking quite a bit at idle and when reved up it stops smoking and throws a bunch of black stuff which im thinking is gas? but I have no idea.
Well a few things to say that might help you guys help me
1. This is the first time ive started it in a month
2. I think it might have been doing that before I changed the 02 sensor
3. It was still smoking like 3-4 minutes after the car was off???
4. I dont have a the hose connecting the FMIC piping next to the throttle body to the Wastegate due to the fact that I dont know where to buy vacuum hose.
Well heres the vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrjkRRHJ3jA
Car was warm at start of video. I slow reved up to 3k then dropped it down to idle and went from idle to 6 then from idle to 5. Also on the rev it dropped dangerously low like 200 rpm and almost died and I have no idea why it could be doing that either?
Seriously any help would be appreciated. Im dumb and afraid to try new things when it comes to car problems but Im so far from where I started a year ago lol. Thx in advance

check your intercooler piping...
I bet it is leaking where you changed them.
wasn't doing it before right...
if it has a leak in Inter cooler system it will richen up and puff mad black smoke .,unburt fuel.

It's Just moisture in your exhaust drive it around... My sr does the same thing when it sits for a while... It's moisture and carbon build up... Ill post a video of my evo doing the same thing.. Haven't been driving do to old tags... When your car does that. Check what it is with your fingers.Im sure u can smell if it's gas and feel if it's oil... Also looks like u running rich... Boost leak!! check all hoses and intake pipes...

Actually i just seen your comment saying it was already warm... Was it cold that day?? If it's a really cold day ur exhaust will blow smoke...

it wasnt too cold probably about 65-70. But your right I should feel if its gas or oil. and yea I think im running right but I have yet to find out why although it could be a million things. Damn I still have so much I need to do to it.
So if its gas im good because its just running rich which is a pretty easy fix. But if its oil is that bad? fixable? (im guessing it is)

check for vac leaks everywhere. but you spitting out that much oil isnt a good sign either. check for any symptoms of a blown headgasket like milky oil. etc.

The easiest way to check for a blown head gasket is to check your valve cover cap.. If it looks like a milkshake on the cap then u have a blown head gasket...

Does it smell like gas at all? One time on my car I had a big leak and the computer would over compensating for it by dumps tons of fuel in to the engine. It was shooting out all kind of black shit. To find out my blow off valve flange was cracked. I would have to agree with everybody else check for leaks.

Im pretty sure its not a Blown HG but ill check my cap and inside. It does smell like gas a lot when the car is on. Tomorrow I think I will have a chance so I will check meticulous for leaks everywhere. Is there any special method besides listening or feeling for one?

Get a can of ether and do lil spray's around suction points. If your engine go's Vroooom Then u have a leak... Dont spray it into your intake cone that doesn't count.... All though it will be sweet:p

If it's oil, your turbo seals may be blown and letting oil into your exhaust. If it's gas, someone above already said it, though I thought that fuel made dark smoke?

k thread back from the dead (hey that rhymed) so I finally got time and I let the car warm up again (I havent touched it since) and this time I did the same test but onto a napkin and there was no white smoke and the black stuff that sprayed out was like 99% water there was only a little bit of black stuff and it didnt smell like gasoline at all? Oh and I check the oil cap and there was no milkshake so im pretty sure its not a blown head gasket whew *wipes forehead*
Also I know the car is running crazy rich because after it got warm being like 10 feet away from it you cant breath the smell of gasoline is so strong its crazy. I changed the 02 sensor to a working one last time which I thought would have fixed the problem but its still super rich???
And last but not least they didnt have any ether at the store so Im lost on checking for vacuum leaks. I have a couple thoughts....like
Is Ether just a fuel that you could spray to make the motor rev?
Is it possible to use anything else like water and see if there are bubbles?
Sry and Thx Dont mean to bug but im trying my best haha im going to go mess around with it some more right now and see if I could stumble onto a solution. Your help is appreciated more than you know =)

To check for vacuum leaks you can use carb cleaner and spray around the intake mani. If the idle drops/smooths out, you its a vacuum leak. However, a vacuum leak would cause you to lean out, not get richer. O2 sensor is used for long term fuel trim. I would look at the voltage out of your MAF and coolant temp sensor. These can both contribute to a rich mixture. Oh, and I wouldnt go spraying ether into your motor either.
PS: a little milky shit on the bottom of your rad cap does not equal a blown headgasket. Its called blowby people (moisture + oil vapor = sludgy stuff under your cap)

Thx maverick Ill probably check the voltage on maf next time I work on it.
Well....after working on it the white smoke just doesnt appear anymore which is very unusual and I put a towel right next to the exhaust and reved to about 5k a few times (10 haha) and the towel was nothing more then just a little wet with little black specks on it. So I think the smoke could have been from just letting the car sit a little bit. Damn I hope thats what it is.
As for running rich I still have to mess with it a little more. Ugh I went over my (little problems) and I have about 5 or 6 left to fix before I could drive the car so expect a few more "help me in screwed" threads in the random future.

bah my sr shoots out that black water stuff too...pretty sure its just a by product of combustion(water)...also I dont run a cat. I wouldnt worry about it...mines been running solid for 2 years.

mine sprays shit too and it's fine...I would say check the oil and water if they are clean and good levels go drive the car around maybe it just needs to burn crap up. Your RPM drops because of your open BOV its normal

Mine sat for 6 months and started doing the same thing. I was a little worried but read this thread and drove it around a little and I'm good to go.

Sounds like a wrx....maybe your sparkplug wire or coilpack. That could be why you are reading rich....from the unburnt fuel.

Im surpised no body said this yet, but check/replace your Coolant Temp Sensor for the ECU if that sensor go bad the ECU will still think the engine is cold and keep dumping extra fuel in the cylinders.

but if the sensor is bad, isnt the car gonna sputter like hell?
