well about 5 or more months ago, ive noticed my water pressure getting softer.
i havent touched anything. no other water is running in my condo. the water flowing through my fridge is low, and the shower upstairs is low, basically im loosing pressure. i wouldnt mind it, but damn, the water doesnt get hot for a LONG ass time in the shower. i barely switch the water to the top nozzle since the pressure is so low. and that annoys me since school is starting and i need a fast shower.
i have an electric water heater in my garage. ive never changed it or anything. i dont think its been changed in the 20 some years that this condo has been up.
would you think i would need to replace the water heater?
any info would be great. thanks zilvia plummers! haha

first, "plumbing" has a "B" in it.
water heaters don't last 20 years, it probably needs replaced. but if you're having the problem with hot and cold water, that's not the root cause of your problem.
check the incoming pressure (don't ask me how). or ask your neighbors if they are having similar problems. there may be a problem with the city water supply.
are you having any other problems? colored water, spurting out of the faucets, etc.? how is your system set up? any filters or water softener? or is it just direct supply? there should be a back flow preventer somewhere in the system, though i don't know where they put them in residential systems.

Yeah, I don't think water pressure is determined by the water heater
Check the main line to your condo, typically the main line shut off might be in your garage or something
Maybe for some reason its not open all the way, from when maybe they did service on your condo?
My original advise was going to call a plumber, but trying to diagnose (as long as you don't touch anything) doesn't hurt
But I'd leave hardcore plumbing to a professional

Don't condos have landlords or someone like that? Make it their problem. :bigok:

I think association fees don't cover inside the condo, or the plumbing
Typically it covers exterior maintenance, landscaping, and such

thanks alot guys. ill check the main line outside my garage tomorrow.
when i first bought this condo, my dad helped me reroute some pipes for a hose in my garage, and i also added filters for my kitchen water. but i dont think that has any effect on the pressure. since i basically just extended some pipes at their ends and added a filter at another end.
my association doesnt do crap. they have crappy corrupt security, shitty painting jobs. only thing do good is clean the streets well.
any Plumbers on zilvia? haha

it does if they're dirty. ever watch a Dyson commercial, or put a new filter in your car...?
but that only makes a difference if all the water in the house goes through the filter, which it sounds like it doesn't.

First thing is to check ALL the valves inside, and outside the house.
See if it's all open.
They're not?
Open em all, problem solved.
They are?
Then go find your main water meter.
Should be outside on the street. Little square cover with Water company name on it.
Open it.
Disconnect it on the outlet side of the meter (the one going to the house) and see if the water gushes well.
It does?
Then there's a bad line between the house and the meter.
Call Plumber.
Doesn't flow well?
Call local water company and have em do a bypass check.
They'll bypass the meter and see if the meter itself is broken.
They'll replace the meter, they are the only ones allowed.
