View Full Version : Deep Corn Steering Wheel + Short Hub?

Sorry if this has been asked, but does anyone know of a recommendable short hub? I heard NRG wasn't exactly too quality, is this true?
I plan on getting a deep dish styled wheel, and I don't want the thing to stick out too much, so is a short hub necessary? Also, most short hubs I see say they are to be in conjunction with a quick release, is it possible to use the short directly to the wheel without the quick release?
I'm also not really sure of a good place to buy these hubs, Works Bell is too expensive and the cheapest short hub from them I found was 150 online

I'm interested in this as well. I'm somewhat short at 5' 8", and I usually have my seat up a good ways so I can push the clutch all the way in without locking my knee out.
Do you just have to get a regular steering wheel or what? I really like the deep dish kind.

i have an nrg short hub (i like it a lot also), standard length quick release (aworks, also very nice), and deep corn wheel (white w/ flake...gangster shit)
i'm 5'11" and i ride with the seat all the way back. the wheel isnt too close to me. but its farther out than stock. i can only tell this becasue i cant just reach my finger out to flip my turn signal. i have to take my hand off the wheel.
if you sit kinda close to the stock wheel as is, i would just get a short hub and short quick release for a deep corn wheel, that would be about stock wheel placement.

Works bell is one of the best if not the best hub you can get. I've had both NRG and Works bell and for my S14 I would take a works bell anyday, but if you have a S13 and do not have to worry about air bag lights then it doesn't matter that much.
If you get a short hub + deep steering wheel it would probably be in the same position as a short hub + quick release + regular steering wheel, or you could go with a short hub + thinner quick release (FET) + regular steering wheel and have any of those 3 setups reasonably close to stock.

If you don't mind reaching off of your steering wheel to reach your turn signals then none of this really applies.
But for a short hub if you have a S13 it doesn't really matter, while if you have a S14 I highly recomend works bell. Unless you want an annoying air bag light.

I'm looking at getting a short hub, a quick release, and a deep dish steering wheel.
Too long for me?

My co-worker has a Teknique(sp?) hub and it is a kickass unit.
Comes with a lock, and unique hub, so someone can't just put their own wheel on your car, and you can never accidentally pull off your wheel. Also, it is well made, and has provided him with good performance.

I have better pics somewhere.
I use an NRG short hub, with NRG 2.5 QR.
I have no complaints about it. I would take a WB if someone gave it to me, or I got it for the same price I could sell this set up, but for now this is better than stock, and more than enough.

I'm planning to do the same setup too. Nardi deep corn and circuit sports short hub, I think it will come out pretty close to the distance of the stock. Any inputs?

This is what I run: http://www.tekniqauto.com/
I prefer their locking quick-release for a number of reasons, including key lock, positive release by pulling paddles, good tech support. On top of that the quick release design is patented (something I always like to have in any product).
Just keep in mind that no hub is really secure. Even if you have self-shearing bolts they can still drill it out and put on their own steering wheels.
