Well, as my project nears it's completion I'm running into some minor problems that I want to make sure is acceptable before I proceed any further...

My turbo exhaust manifold had a bung size for a 'fat' o2 sensor, and I have a s13 redtop which as you all know comes with a skinny o2... Now my wideband is the fat width size and fits right into the spot... Can I wire the 3 wires on the wideband that pertain to (+) (signal) and (-) to my skinny o2 harness so that the ECU will read it the same? Or will I have to buy a fat type o2 sensor and splice it to the skinny o2 harness and put the wideband sensor in another spot like my test pipe which at this moment is blocked off by a bung.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

You would want that in a different spot. You'd want your factory o2 sensor, then a wideband I believe 18" or more away from your turbo. You wouldnt want a wideband before the turbo

Hmm. Could I put the wideband before the O2 sensor? My turbo elbow has the fat sized fitting which the wideband fits into and my test pipe fits my skinny o2 sensor perfectly..... If I can't do that is it possible to splice the 3 wires from the skinny o2 in my test pipe to the 3 corresponding wires in the wideband and then vice versa to get it to read correctly? Or are the signal outputs different?

It appears the skinny o2 has a different output than the wideband sensor. Since the redtop ECU is meant to accept the skinny o2 signal type.. could i swap my redtop ecu (62) with a blacktop ecu (e5) with my redtop harness and have everything still work correctly?

Killer you fucking idiot why didnt you ask me douche, plus this has been covered already so search noob.

Anyways the Skinny O2 sensor is a narrowband sensor which only outputs a 0-1v signal. Widebands output a 0-5v signal. Putting the wideband has to be about 36" after the turbo a good spot is usually right underneath the driver floorboard when the downpipe bends and goes straight.

You're never online anymore slutmo.

Anyways, my friend put my wideband on my turbo elbow when it was out of the car, now its in a position where it cannot be removed unless I unbolt the elbow as well as the downpipe. What I'm doing now is putting my skinny o2 sensor in my test pipe and wiring it all the way up to the harness in the engine bay. Would this still work correctly or is it too far after the turbo to make an accurate reading?

:duh:

I think its too far for the skinny O2. it will probably delay the signal cause slow readings.

Do you know if the fat type o2 sensor from an '86 200sx turbo is titania or zirconia?

Also, can I swap a redtop ecu (62) for a blacktop ecu (e5) and everything still work exactly the same? (on a redtop engine + harness)
