When i need to make quick reaction, like avoiding a door being opened in front of me the power steering seems to go away.  I will make a quick turn to the left (with ease) then sometimes when i quickly turn it back to the right it will get very hard to turn the wheel.  Another time it does this is if i am trying to make a very fast parking manuver (sp?).  I will be going about 10mph and quickly turn away from the spot (with ease) the crank it towards the parking spot but it will be very difficult.  I was thinking it had something to do with my power steering pump, but a guy at Autozone said that you will know of  steering pump problem if the steering wheel is turned to it's maximum then starts to squeel.  Can anyone help me out on this one?

Check your power steering lines. Especially the hardlines going into and out of the rack. I suspect one of them is kinked. If so it's easy to replace.
