hey guys, im getting out of the 240 game and purchasing a new car, i just need a more reliable car.
im looking at not spending more than 20k, and i want it to be at least as new as 2005
im thinking between a subie wrx, unfortunately not the sti b/c its too expensive, an audi a4, or an older g35
any recommendations or suggestions?
thanks in advance for any input!
Justin

eff that. just get an s-chassis and don't modify the engine. there. reliability. done.
if i was in your shoes tho, i'd be looking at legacy sedans. so i could make it look like these. (hope nobody from nasioc minds me jacking photos from them :bigok: )

I jumped into the legacy water... I don't regret it so far. Stay far far away from audi and vw if you want reliability and affordable maintenance.

For the price you looking I'd go with the new Astra.

Or a civic or new corolla.

Yeah, you should do what I did, and pay $17k for a 10 year old car.
What's really sweet is the utter sexiness combined with total lack of reliability.
But hey, buy what you want.
If I were you I would get:
1. Brand new Saturn Astra.
2. Mazdaspeed Miata
3. E46 BMW.

you can get a 05 GTO for around 20k now
a 04 for less. I love the car and its a blast to drive.. Dont let the pontiac badge bother you because its not a pontiac lol. Sure it has the badges buts far from it.
cant beat a 350 to 400hp V8 car, RWD, LSD, 6speed, etc for 20k

In a couple years, im going to have to give back my mercedes lease, and Im going to get a 91 911 with low miles. Then prey my modded 240 won't get stolen as a daily driver.
I must have a 911.:bigok:

BWAHAHA sorry, DO NOT get an Astra. THEY ARE SLOW AS BALLLLLLSSSSSS! maybe with some after market help, or maybing throwing the super charger from the Cobalt SS or doing a motor swap they are definately not worth it for doing basic i/h/e combo, your looking at something that will be just as fast as a 240 but FWD. yea the 3 dr's look pretty good, thats about all they have going for them. seeing they have a 1.8l 138hp 125ftlb tq 4 banger ecotec...
they have shitty rear visibility, just about the same or less rear passenger room as a 240 and probably less trunk space. oh and another thing, your looking at ~19,100 for the 3dr astra xr with nothing on it as at this time they only come in the XR trim level,
and you only have 5 options for the car
4-speed automatic transmission $1,325.00
Advanced Audio Package $595.00
Includes AM/FM stereo with 6-disc CD changer, MP3 playback and 7-band equalizer, enhanced information display and 7-speaker premium audio system.
Premium Trim Package $745.00
Includes leather seat surfaces, premium door trim, front high-sport seats, door pocket lighting, 3-spoke sport leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and Driver Information center controls, driver manual lumbar seat adjuster, and heated front seats.
18-inch star-spoke machined alloy wheels(2) $495.00
Heated cloth front seats $250.00
