So my sister just sent me this email:

Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they
send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines
thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not
support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops
their brand of coffee.

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit the fire
fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for
the survivors and workers and Starbucks charged them! ! !

I was most shocked at the "nor anyone in it" comment.

Now I know that nobody wants a war, but I sure as hell support everyone of you men and women that are involved in the events of.

Fuck STARBUCKS and their overpriced crap.

......... and they have the balls to have starbucks operating on U.S. Military Bases.

God bless America and all its troops and supporters!

You're barely now boycotting starbucks?

Because they don't support the war?

How about for these reasons?
-They use underpaid third-world laborers.
-They have unsustainable clear cutting process that is damaging to the enviroment.
-They use Hormoned (word?) Milk.
-They cut hours and benefits from their employees. (A La walmart)
-It's ridiculously unhealthy. One of the main provider for Obese America.

YHBT.

^Probably just another one who thinks themselves better than the rest and cant be thankful that brave men and women would lay down their lives to save his sorry ass.

We should ALL be thankful that we are allowed to believe what we want and express what we feel because there are those willing to grant us the protection of those rights through their sacrifices. Whether you agree with the politics or not you should be thankful for every day that you wake and have choices, that you are not told what to think or believe by someone who would kill you for not following their beliefs. I disagree with the insensitive comment by Helghast but he has the right to say what he feels, rights ensured by those whom STARBUCKS will not support.

FUCK STARBUCKS

Helghast now brings something good to the discussion. All of the reasons he posted for not support Starbucks are totally valid and well worth considering. I just get steamed by those who so readily "spit" on our troops via email or whatever. They deserve our support even if you don't agree with the reasons for why they are wherever they are. Without them our country and society would be in great peril from the same type of people who would fly planes into buildings and use babies to carry bombs.
People just need to realize that the world is not nice and we have it very good here because we have a strong military to protect us. Politics aside we need our troops and they need our support.

i don't see how the war affects Starbucks, nor how it would affect their business in any way...

but then again i don't see how this Starbucks vs. war thing affects me in any way.

I didn't "spit" on anything.
The first remark was sarcasm.
maybe if I put /sarcasm you'd understand.
so that was my fault. maybe.

But let me tell you, starbucks not supporting the war is not the reason why I drink Kelly's coffee instead.

Dont know how far i would go to belive that about starbucks acting like towards the military.....if memory serves me correct, i was sure drinking some starbucks while overseas.....

I along with countless others, support my brothers and sisters who are still over there, and continue to go over there....but rumors like this one needs to stop...too many rumors these days question an individuals or in this case a corporations patriotism esp. towards the military. I dont understand why we do it, but either way that chit needs to stop...if you wanna be patriotic, start by not believing everything out there about those who arent patriotic

btw, i dont like starbucks either way...

I read Starbuck's damage control letter from the Sgt.

Okay.

I can continue drinking Starbucks now. Even though it's bad for me and I drink it like once a month maybe.

your sister sent you an email that should be covered in cobwebs its so old.

when i was working at pjs over two years ago we heard about this. so we sent over $500 worth of coffee (wholesale, not retail) overseas for distribution to the troops

starbucks also sells coffees labeled as "jamaican blue mountain" and "kona hawaii" beans that retail for more than $50 per pound. what they dont tell you is, the coffee didnt come from jamaica or hawaii, it comes off the processing room floor. they're evil in general. i avoid them like the plague personally.

regardless, they still sell fake coffee making huge profits off of garbage beans that are laying on the floor. (this is a fact, there are lawsuits over the matter)
i still hate them and still wont give them my money and if anything, it was such great publicity for the OTHER coffee shops who did respond to the story by sending coffee overseas, that hopefully it took some attention away from the corporation and helped some people see that starbucks isnt the end all be all god child of coffee

yup
the corporate side of america indeed
MAKE IT CHEAP SELL IT EXPENSIVE should be its motto instead of ''in god we trust''

i personally dont support the war...but i respect those who choose to fight it

I'll still be buying Starbucks. Let them believe and do what they want. As long as they continue to make a product that I find worth spending my money on they'll have my business. Same goes with pretty much anything.

Beat me to it busted, I get these types of e-mails all the time(being in the military) and as a matter of fact if you roll over to our local starbucks in uniform in the AM you get your coffee free PERIOD.

Oh yea and before you post up that e-mail where some General gets interviewed about teaching kids gun safety. And tells the reporter just because she's equipped to be a prostitute doesn't mean she is, is false also.

Starbucks does support the troops. They are on a majority of the bases. I know Yokosuka has one, and damnit, I love them.
