PLEASE HELP :sadwavey:

89 240sx coupe SR20 S13 swap

so car runs fine but i noticed the clutch pedal falls to the ground even when driving but at different times. does not always happen but happends way to often.

also the current tranny kindof scratched 4th every once in a while.

Replaced Slave cylinder, bleed clutch. Problem did not stop

tried to by pass the porprotioning valve but ofcourse that did not work.
re-installed the porprotiong valve and bleed system again, now feeling more pressure on the clutch pedel but pedel still falls to ground when it wants and/or when i turn the car off.

thought it might be the tranny, plus i had the tranny laying around from my s14 swap and assumed since the s14 swap in my 95 was perfect so would the tranny be.

while on the lift, took off s13 sr tranny noticed clutch was not brand new a seller stated, also noticed quit a few of the clutch bolts were loose, so tightend them up.

installed s14 sr tranny. NOW while car is on tranny would not go into gear, but with car off every thing felt fine.

let the car run fro a while since the tranny has been sitting. finally put it on the ground to try it

Tranny would not go into 1st gear, and as i tried to force it into first the car would start to roll as if it was slightly engaging into gear.

got the car on the street, went into to all gears drove it up and down the block 1-4 but still at time it would not go into first with out me palying with the stick or putting it into second first.

Now assuming and knowing that we did everything inregards to the tranny swap correct one would think the car would be perfect.

my question to you;

1. what is the likeliness of the tranny i swapped in being bad, because at least previously the car drove fine but the clutch peddle was just dropping and the system had air in it.

2.what else may be the problem, assusming the tranny is in great condition being it was purchased with as a full swap from a repitbale company.

3. what should i do not, try another one of my trannies? take it to the shop and just fork out tons of cash?

also i will attempt to drive the car home tonight as it was raining last night and never got around to re-installing wippers.

Thanks for any help, seriously. :rawk:

the clutch pedal dropping has to do with the hyrdralic system. has nothing to do with the clutch or transmission

check your master cylinder. i got a new one from brett 49 on az240 for 35 shipped.

Since you replaced the slave cylinder my first guess would be that you have a bad master cylinder. It sounds like you aren't getting enough pressure to completely disengage the clutch. I would start there. Hope this helps

I've seen the clutch master cylinder leak into the inside of the car under the carpet - very hard to figure out. If you replace it get an OEM nissan one and not the cheap ones they sell at auto stores.
Did you change your tranny fluid? Used the right one [Redline MT-90]? To the correct level?

its the clutch master as stated above unless you have a leak or hole in one of your lines, you might not even notice it leaking but its no good, the ones at autozone fit well and come with a lifetime warranty

did not have access to Redline at the time but still use 90 weight while car was even hight on the lift untill it started to poor out of the fill plug.

now since everyone is saying the master cylinder

now what about the other tranny working fine and now i put this one in and its bearly going into gear when it wants.

would that be fixed with a new master cylinder or does that sound like the tranny it self is also bad?

sounds like the master still if the clutch isnt engaging the transmisson will not go into gear...

now lets work backwards.. you are gettin NO pressure in the line.. thus the clutch fork isnt getting pushing.. which means the clutch isnt getting engages.. thus the transmission will not go into gear

keep in mind the transmission will go into gear when the car is off because there is no need for a clutch when the car is off.
