Hello everyone, wanted to say thanks for such a website.
I've got a little problem. My 95 240sx se has a factory alarm, when I bought it I was told that the alarm had issues. I figured it would be an easy fix. Well the fist major issue came when I changed out the battery, the kill switch on the starter would not turn off. After putting the key in and out of the doors for most of a day it finnaly allowed me to turn it over. The other day I was out and got in the car and the starter once again would not turn over, so instantly I thought it was the alarm. I removed the starter out of the bell just to make sure and it turned over. Ruleing out the alarm. I got a new starter and wanted to change it with out removeing the battery but, make a long story short I didn't want to fry a 5 month old battery and just disconnected it. Well before putting the starter back into the bell I tried to turn it over and that's where I am. I can't get the alarm to allow the starter to turn over. I've found the FSM on line and read it but I'm still not sure about bypassing the relay for the starter kill. I wanted to know if anyone else has had an issue with this? Suggestions? Has anyone had a problem with the relay not getting fully charged and not allowing full power to the starter? I'm still questioning myself about if the starter was bad or not. I know that if the brushes get worn real bad it won't produce enough power to turn over the motor, but I'm wondering if the relay which i'm sure is just a Double throw relay is just not holding enough of a charge to stay in position. Any thoughts?

relays dont hold a charge.
when there applyed power they will flip a switch when you take away power they flip back. that simple. they could be sticking closed.
does your factory alarm do anything when you go to start it and it dosnt start? lights flash? horn honk? if not i dont think its your alarm...

Thanks for everyones help. I traced it out and removed the relay. put power to it, hooked up the alarm brain then disconnected the battery, hooked the battery back up and then used the fob a few times, and unlocked the door and she's back up and going... Yes it's a manual, but in there is no way to push start it in the driveway, 30 % slop. If anyone has done a swap on a car that had a factory alarm let me know what it'll take to get it from you.. This thing is really pissing me off. I know it'll do it again sometime..

The SECU unit (alarm) also handles the door lock and domelight control, as well as the rear defogger timer. Removing it would cancel all those features too. I have a few used ones from parts cars, or of you're looking to get rid of it completely, ground the disarm wire (found at the unit or at any key cylinder) and it will be permanently disabled. IIRC the wire is green/black, but don't quote me on that.

so does 95 s14 has immobolizer system? I also have factory alarm but the previous owner don't have the key fob. The blinking led on the dash is flashing when ever I lock the car manually. So can I get a OEM factory fob and program it to work the the factory alarm? will it get in the way of anything?

on the side note, will removing battery and connect it again mess up your starting system?

It has a starter kill circuit, but it's bypassed when you unlock the car with the key. There's a disarm wire at each cylinder. The LED will flash constantly if any point of entry is open, and when armed.
Pick up as remote off Ebay if you really want one.

so can I get a remote and program it to work w/ factory alarm w/o anything funny happen?

also, I've seen couple thread about people removing battery and reconnect them then the car won't let them start. It's like the immobolizer unit is preventing them. Can you please explain this? thanks

That's what I said, buy a remote and program it.

And again, there is no immobilizer on the OE alarm. People having problems starting their car have aftermarket alarms. The OE alarm does not interfere with the starter if the battery is disconnected, only when armed, and then all you have to do is disarm it with the key.
