I was wondering why I don't here a whole lot about the CA20 mod. I figure it would be easier to get parts for than a SR20. Theres all kinds of 200SX in the salvage yards with the CA20e and you can also find assloads of CA18DE in the NX's. I mean someone could make a pretty fast car with that combo and maybo a turbo thrown in there. I just though it would be worth doing it since there are alot of people in Japan shipping the CA20 in from the States to build a CA20DET. I don't see why we can't do that overhere.

I thought all we got were the sohc? I have been bugging people about Ca's without much luck. Personally a CA20DET would be the Sh*t. Please share any info you have on the Japan bit. I have a extra 240 looking foir a heart transplant so I'm very interested.

Haven't heard of anyone doing a CA20 swap, but there are a couple of guys on the NICO forums who have done the CA18DET swap. It's a pretty stout little motor, and I was about to go through with it, but couldn't part with the torque of the KA-T.

Yeah I know about the CA18DET. I want to know why the Japenese are importing ours which I thought were only SOHC and If there even is a DOHC in the States. And Aren't NXs Fwd anyway. YO JUNIA WAKE UP

The CA20E is a turd. Actually, no... It's a fine '80s economy car engine, and it had decent pull for my S12, but it's really no fun, and the word performance shouldn't really be mentioned anywhere near it.

I haven't heard of anyone in Japan importing US CA20 engines, either.

Personally, I've looked into it, and I'd much rather have an SR20DE or SR20DET than a CA20E with a CA18DE head.

So is that how they do the swap? get a JDM head and I could make the the CA18DET. It's fine you don't like it, but a skyhigh Rpm motor with Hp over torque is still something I think would be cool. I have a old 89 coupe I had originally purchased with some mods on it and I think that it would be prime for some sort of side project like this. I mean the KA is a truck engine, I want a true sporsts displacment and redline. It could possibly be very cheap to due.

Alright, first off sorry for the post whoring it's just that this is something that I have heavy interest in. So I looked around searched and whatnot like I should have done in the first place. Well I did just not hard enough. My final question is can a US Nx front wheel drive block work in the 240 if I get a tranny of some sort that works with it. Essentially is the FWD Nx block the same as the RWD S13?

Never heard of anyone importing a CA20E from the states to do a CA20DET.

Japanese would take a CA18DET and have it bored up. I know because I looked into this when I owned an S13 Silvia K's with a CA18DET that I transplanted in there myself.

My tuner told me just to go with an SR20DET. Cheaper power, and cheaper and more powerful in the long run.

People have brought the US CA20E up a few times but I don't think anyone has actually mated a CA18DET head and gotten one running.....

I just kind of threw that out there because there are still some tuners that have a thing for the CA engines. I thought it was a pretty solid engine myself. I was just wondering if anyone tried going with the CA instead of a SR.
