CA unemplyment checks

Seeing how it is Tax seasoni thought i could give someone here who might need it some advice

last year i was on Unemplyment for about roughly 4 months


found out while doing my taxes that the Govt considers it an Income (like if ur workign) and they nees said information like if it were a W2 (different named form BTW)

so if u on unemployment, and have the box that ask do u wish to be taxed, make sure u mark it...i luckily did and im ok but just food for thought for the next up coming year if by chance u need to file for un employment...any other questions on how to file u can ask here and ill answer ASAP

I have a question, though I'm in NJ. If you get a letter to participate in a "fact finding interview," is it required that you do so? Or can I just ignore it since I don't plan on collecting anymore anyway? Wording on these things is purposely vague and I have better things to do than get grilled by a woman with an attitude (I've collected in the past).

it is required. if you dont do the "interview" your check will be delayed or you might get your unemployment stopped.

well if u dont want unemployment anymore. i would suggest giving them a call. instead of wasting your/their time sending u letters or giving you calls that u missed your interview.

yeah...my mom works for an unemployment office.

Ok thanks, maybe I'll stop by an office next week and tell them I'm done (it's quicker/easier in person then over the phone here).
