i have a friend whos lookling to buy his 1ST car, and he wants something sporty, luxious, and at the same time something that not everyone has.. and CHEAP.. lots to ask for i know.
anyways.. he saw an ad for a black 300ZX 5spd V6 non turbo for about $3500.00 it was a 1993 w/ 87K are there any things we should know about these cars?
how reliable are the engines? V60 right? some1 told me that its the same as the maxima engine not sure.
is it a problematic car? expensive to own/keep/fix?

I think a $3,500 Z is gonna have a ton of problems <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
www.twinturbo.net is a good place to ask about problems that it may have. They aren't as probalamatic as some people here believe.

$3500 for a '93 with that low of miles sounds cheap. They are expensive to maintain and if they aren't maintained they are very expensive to fix. Other than that, they are awsome, even the NA. It's like a muscle car in a sportscar body IMHO. Anyways, around here a car like that didn't have any problems would go for around $7K-$11K. Maybe its a good deal but I'd guess on some problem.
The VG30DE is known to be a strong engine. I've recently found out that the maxima had a version of this engine but the most closely related is the Infinity J30.

That's REAL cheap considering the year and miles.
Does it come with an engine? (j/k)
I would seriously make the guy let you take it to a mechanic and have an inspection done by a trusted place. If you have a good nissan dealership around you then they should be able to help you.
I know some guy who was selling his 93 with low miles, but it was something like $12500.

Those Z's are BOATS! Sporty, but boat-like. I'd say to get something a little smaller.

What like a metro? They're no bigger than an S14 and not much bigger than an S13. Obviously you haven't driven one.

It could be just the fact that the person selling it doesn't really care about making a profit on it. They're just selling it to make room in thier garage for a new car, or they just want to get rid of it Not everyone who sells a car tryies to make some money off of it. I'd just go and look at, check for rust, test drive for a rather long distance(go on the freeway or something). Also, if this is the first owner of the car ask him about any problems that the car may have....you never know, this car may be a diamond in the rough...

how is a Z a boat? it's shorter than a 240sx.
