The part circled in red. Rust ate away at it. I had a new intake mani on the way but it didn't make it in time, I needed my car up and running so I swapped KAs and used my old intake manifold. Now it seems like too much work to put the new mani on, so I'm just wondering if I can whack that with a rubber mallet till it comes off and put a new one in?

It is pressed in, but I've never been able to get one out without damaging it.

Damage the piece that the radiator hose goes around? Or the intake manifold part, like next to the CTS and stuff. Damaged or not, if I can just get it out, do I coat the new one in sealant (the ones you use around the water pump when you replace that) and just press it in?
I've looked at courtesy parts, but I can't find a part number for that piece. Anyone have any info?

It's not worth it, those manifolds go for cheap in the for sale items forum! Just post a WTB for the lower intake. It's a lot of work, but you'll have to take the manifold off to repair it anyways. Also if your engine is an s-13 KADE you should get the s-14 KADE lower intake, it doesn't have the dumb-ass butterflies in it. You will have to plug a couple of vacuum hoses but you'll get better flow!

Upper. The SCVs are in the upper. You're completely backwards.

It's not sold as a separate part. And it's thin pot metal, so any kind of gripping to pull/twist it will crush the pipe. That's why it corrodes so easily.

Just put the new intake manifold on, it will be less of a hassle since you will have to take the old one off when that piece gets messed up anyway.

I always consider the plentum the upper manifold as it is upstream of the actual intake manifold (which is what bolts to the head). Just because it is located higher in the engine bay does not necessarily make it the upper manifold. Am I technically correct, maybe not, but it still makes perfect sense. So to clarify buy an intake manifold, not a plentum.
